Winter Warmer. A rich, full-bodied winter warmer crafted in the British tradition of holiday beers. This deep mahogany colored brew balances complex fruit flavors with a refreshingly smooth texture.

Big malty character with some spiciness and hops at the end.Needed a little more of both to make it really stand out though. Very good but slightly one dimensional.

(2001). not quite a barley wine as it is dominated by a malty toast-like taste,as in a scotch ale some spices here with a understated hoppiness. potent alcohol content is masked well to make this a good winter warmer.

2002 bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly lasting. Body is dark orange-brown. Aroma is lightly malty (nutty, caramel), lightly hoppy (flowers). Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is moderately acidic, lightly bitter, very unclean. Medium to full body, creamy texture, lively carbonation. Now this is some foul stuff...horrible aftertaste, undrinkable...either this is a ruined batch or the rest of you are on drugs. Hmmmm...or maybe I’m on drugs. What I really want to know is how they got Mississippi River water all the way up to Washington.

UPDATED: NOV 4, 2003 Aroma of banana (esters?), caramel, hop twang, and hint of alcohol. Dark brown color w/ thin head. Flavors of Roasted malt, licorice, coffee, smoke, banana flavor (coming from malts + esters?)

UPDATED: NOV 13, 2003 I liked this. Nice and malty, with a warming taste about it. Appealing to the mouth. My only complaint is the bitterness in the finish, which is somewhat overpowering. Other than that, a good beer. Rerate: A little hit of dryness and skunkiness, not as good.

(Best by 4/1/03) Snow Cap is one fine looking glass of beer, great color and an awesome lasting head. I do get a slight East Kent Goldings nose, but not much else. The palate is firm malty and fruity, the hops play a nice supporting role. I must admit as the beer warms the hops start coming on stronger. The finish is the long lingering hoppy/nutty type that is great for cooler weather. Snow Cap is well made and enjoyable.
