12oz bottle. Enjoy by 3/11/13. Darker hazy brown / red color. Huge pillowy khaki fills the glass and requires a 2-part pour. Fades, but a good thin layer remains. Cinnamon spice and baked apple / pear skin nose. Medium - plus body. Smooth, light / medium soft carbonation. Light spicy bite in the finish. Spice, and toasty english malt taste. Some musty bruised fruit. Light metallic. Moderate bitter, light spice bite... Not awful, but not very pleasant. Not my kind of English Strong Ale, nor my kind of winter ale.

Pours a dark brown color with off-white head. Spice, dark fruits, and some roasted malt on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with more dark fruit notes.

Reviewed from notes. I poured this into a pint glass. The appearance was a decent looking dark brown to black color with a decent looking one finger white foamy head that ends up leaving some decent spider web lacing. The smell was mainly malty but roasty as well. Lightly spiced with what seems to be perhaps some ginger, and cinnamon. The taste was kinda sweet roasty and winter spiciness allowing a decent spicy aftertaste leading into a dry finish. On the palate, it sat at/about a medium with more of a sipping aspect to it than sessionability. No worries at 7% and being a winter warmer, it is where it should be. Overall, I say this was a fairly good winter warmer I’d have again.

Pours a dark amber with two fingers of creamy head. Flavor is malty and slightly sweet. Not many spices which is good. Balanced flavor overall. Nice beer.

Bottle poured a clear deep reddish brown hue w/ huge long lasting foamy beige head and broken lacing. Moderate roasty malty spicy aroma. Initial flavor is moderate sweet w/ a moderate bitter finish. Tastes are roasted malts, pine, and spices. Medium bodied, watery mouthfeel, and a lasting resin finish.

Poured from 12 oz bottle into nonic glass. Appearance: Pours a frothy off white head that recedes very slowly with lots of lacing. Color is reddish brown with some streaming carbonation evident. Aroma: malt dominates, very bready with some caramel and chocolate, also some earthy hops. Mouthfeel: medium bodied, oily texture with a somewhat dry finish. Flavor: bready malt, raisin, plums, caramel, a bit of dark chocolate melds with earthy and citrus hops. Overall: very pleasant winter warmer. Enjoyed this sipper.

Thanks to Ken for the 12oz. bottle - Aroma of toasted malts with hnts of dark fruit. A maghogny pour supporting a thin, non-lasting off1-white head and limited lacing. On the palate, there is a sudden dark fruit sweetness, followed by a roasty presence ending in a pleasing bitter finish and aftertaste. Nice balance of the tastes offered by the malts and hops. Mediums body and medium carbonatin. Overall, I am very pleased. When I heard it was a winter warmer, I envisioned something overly sweeet and spicy. Glad I was mistaken.

I liked it a lot. Malty and chocolate were the things that stood out to me. Very solid seasonal beer.

Had off tap at the brewery. Aroma of sweaty socks. Copper to dark brown. Candied brown sugar middle and finishes sweet and slightly dry. Not a huge alc presence, very much like a brown ale.

12 oz bottle. Pours brown with tall, long lasting, fluffy off-white head. Aroma is of herbal, piney hops, spices, dark fruit, brown sugar, coffee and caramel malt. Body is full and tangy. Taste is similar to aroma. Finish is long and dry. It was a perfect brew to drink after shoveling snow.
