(2001). not quite a barley wine as it is dominated by a malty toast-like taste,as in a scotch ale some spices here with a understated hoppiness.
potent alcohol content is masked well to make this a good winter warmer.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Dark ruby with a medium tan head that diminshed quickly. Very spicy malty cherry aroma. Flavor is very dry and not nearly as sweet as I remember previous vintages. The alcohol is fairly prominent. Kind of one dimensional. Disapointing.

A clear dark brown beer with alcohol in the smell as well as copious amounts of malt, and some esters. The flavor is a bit bitter near the end, lasting aftertaste.

2004 vintage. Nice beer, Big english hop flavor balanced (although not perfectly) with some roasted malts. Nice to drink, but not a real thinker beer.

an okay winter beer, nothing special, thereís a lot better out there. It neither has the depth or character nor body of say Deutsches offering in this genre.

Not too sure what style this one is. Just sort of a largish ale to dark to be pale but not quite brown. The color here is a brownish amber capped by about an eighth inch of white head w/ hardly any lace. Nose isnít very intersting--not much but a touch of caramel and a strange metallic twinge that fades after a few minutes. Slightly sweet but thin bodied w/ rather bland carbonation. Thereís some hints of chocolate and caramel w/ maybe a hint of plums or raisin but not much of anything reallly. Just the faintest touch of bitterness on the back of the throat. Drinkable but nothing worth mentioning.

Draft, cold Pint. Fairly cold temperature for this beer, mostly malt aroma hops was not noticible, poured brown with no real head. Very malty, little hops, but plenty of sweet malt but not cloying. Not too bad at all, but nothing exceptional.

Iím just not seeing it. Nothing was too special about this brew. It pours a dark brown color and looks quite good ... unfortunately its the best characteristic of the beer. The aroma is minimal and nothing special, a little what, grass, malts, etc. The flavor isnít anything too special either, in fact I just flat out didnít enjoy it.

Not my cup of tea for a winter beer. Malty, medicinal, minty flavor. The beer pours a relatively dark amber with a smallish head. The aroma is a mixture of band-aids and mint with some malt presence. The flavor is a tad sweet for my liking. Itís not a terrible strong ale, but itís not terribly interesting or worth another purchase. Jubelale may be a dollar or two more for a six pack, but itís worth it.
