2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 mgoy (345) - New York, New York, USA - DEC 29, 2008
I am very confused as to all of the positive reviews of Pyramid Snow Cap Ale. Honestly, I thought it was horrible.
This is a very nicely colored ale with a deep mohogany color and some fruit notes. However, the flavor was bitter and very unenjoyable.
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 gururyan (482) - Stillwater, Oklahoma, USA - SEP 11, 2010
I did not find this particularly good despite the constant recommendations for it.
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 maxwelldeux (2368) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - NOV 21, 2012
Bottle. Pours a very dark brown color with very little head on it. Nose is a bit odd - almost smells like wood to me. Taste is a bit bitter, but not in a hoppy good way like an IPA.
1.9 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 yemenmocha (658) - Glendale, Arizona, USA - APR 19, 2009
Pours off brown with slight haze, thin white head dissipates quickly to a thin white rim. Nose is weak, without much to report, but perhaps a faint mocha. Palate has a brown sugary, high alcohol character to it, and it finishes rather warm. Winter warmer, yes, but not in a good way.
1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 thedm (4783) - Fort Wayne, USA - DEC 17, 2003
UPDATED: FEB 1, 2004 This brew poured a large head off fine to medium sized light brown colored bubbles that left behind a semi-transparent brown colored carbonated body and a fair lace. The aroma is mild and malty while the mouthfeel is a little bitter from start to finish. The flavor is vinuous with notes of brown malt and strange fruity esters.
Rerate 1/31/2003: This bottle rated a 3-4-3-2-2 from me and was previuosly rated at 4-4-4-3-9. It was not good.
1.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 peter (445) - Normal, Illinois, USA - DEC 11, 2005
UPDATED: DEC 23, 2005 Recomeneded by waittress. "taste like candy" Tap. Creamy head, quickly disapates with drinking. Flavor reminds of Cough syrup. if left to sit for 10+ minutes mellows out some and hops are dectable, but heavy cough syrup aftertaste.
1.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 4/20 RolkaNation (137) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - DEC 17, 2012
Bottle poured into imperial pint. Nice looking beer. Dark amber, caramel-like color, big, frothy khaki head. Aroma is a bit peculiar. Not very malty at all but hints of earthy hops, a touch of brown cinnamon, and a champagne-like scent. Doesn’t really fit a winter ale. Taste isn’t any better. Way too carbonated, fizzy, and bland upfront. The bubbly intensity seems to overpower much of the flavor. There is a nice malt taste on the end, but that’s about it. I wonder if this particular bottle is off because this is pretty awful...
1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 Cavie (3407) - Fort Worth, Texas, USA - MAR 6, 2009
Strong and bitter. Has several notes of earth and grain on the nose. Spilled this on my bed and my room smelled like beer grains for weeks. I guess I could’ve changed the sheets...
1.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 5/20 LyndaNova (531) - Manchester, New Hampshire, USA - DEC 18, 2006
Cold 12oz bottle: Pours a clear dark red color with no bubbles. Rich malts, pine, wood, dark fruits (cherries?) and alcohol. Full bodied and well carbonated. Has a somewhat metallic aftertaste.
