Nice dark color with a fairly nice creamy head. Too much orange and malt for me.

Ack. Looks like a glass of Diet Rite. Very bitter and the alcohol is well-hidden. Extremely malty, though I wouldn't call it a barleywine. Lingering bitterness on the tongue that sticks around like a bad cold.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
This is a well made beer and worth trying. The aroma is alcohol and malt, and it has the same two qualities in the flavor. As Tejas wrote, it is dry, and I believe ruined by the alcohol flavor.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle. Pours a mahogany color with thin head. Aroma is lightly roasty and faintly fruity, like a chocolate covered strawberry. Flavor is lightly sweet, lightly bitter, mostly devoid of flavor. There is some hoppiness, some roasted malt, and not much else. Reading the description there is complex fruit flavors, however none of this was apparent to me. Pleased to find no spice in this, but disappointed to find no flavor as well. The least favorite of the winter seasonals so far, I think Iíll take a winters cask bourbon ale (my previous least favorite) before another of these. Over rated.

12 oz bottle pours a deep ruby color. Sweet malty aroma. Flavor is of not a whole lot really. It is slightly sweet, and astringent , but not a whole lot that is distinguishable going on here.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Pours a deep brown to ruby color with semi transparency. Smell is dark burnt malt, and a bit tart. Granted I canít smell well as Iíve got a cold, but at least that is what I thought I got from it. Taste is charred chocolately tart malt. Lots of alcohol and sour burnt char flavors. Odd. Drinkable but not a favorite of mine, or even within the ESA style that I donít particularly care for. Too much alcohol flavor and not enough body and richness to support it. eh...

(12oz bottle). Pours copper color with beige head. Aroma of candied sugars and biscuit. Taste is sweet with some bitterness but it also contains some metallic notes. Thin bodied with oily texture. Bitter finish. Not a big fan.

Serving type: bottle
Appearance- Dark Ruby Brown with quick disappearing tan head that left a little bit on top of the beer sticky lacing.
Aroma- A some what sweet malty spice aroma
T/P - A spicy sweet taste initial very warming which I like. Left a slight hop bitter after taste which for me somewhat detracts from the beer. Mouth fell is very welcoming except for the aftertaste.
Overall- Not the best winter brew out there a little too bitter at the end ruins the whole beer for me

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 7/20
2002 bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly lasting. Body is dark orange-brown. Aroma is lightly malty (nutty, caramel), lightly hoppy (flowers). Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is moderately acidic, lightly bitter, very unclean. Medium to full body, creamy texture, lively carbonation. Now this is some foul stuff...horrible aftertaste, undrinkable...either this is a ruined batch or the rest of you are on drugs. Hmmmm...or maybe Iím on drugs. What I really want to know is how they got Mississippi River water all the way up to Washington.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Snow Cap poured a very clear dark brown with some red highlights. When held up to the light the body is more red than brown. I started pouring this and got no head so I poured more aggressively and ended up with only a cap that faded to nothing but I tiny patch of head floating around helplessly in the middle.
The smell is very bready which is nice theres also nutmeg and cinnamon. The spices overwhelm the malts instead of complimenting them. As this beer warms more I cant hardly pick up the spices in the nose anymore. The doughyness becomes more pronounced the longer it sits. Not a bad thing but nothing special.
The taste is a lot different than the smell. It tastes like a Miller Genuine Draft. I canít even pick up the spices. Itís biting and obnoxious. Leaving a bad, slightly bitter aftertaste. Tastes stale and possibly oxidized. After every sip Iíve started noticing myself getting a look of disgust and recoiling in horror.
The mouthfeel is bad. Sharp and overcarbonated. It attacks the tongue. The body is light as well. Not what a winter warmer should feel like.
This stuff is an abomination. I am seriously disappointed here. I wasnít expecting greatness but I was expecting a "full-bodied winter warmer" as stated on the label.
This is a terrible example of a winter warmer and isnít even in the same class. I honestly donít understand why Pyramid would even sell something of this quality. These are the kind of things that make me think twice before trying something else from the same brewery.
