there are much better winter seasonals out there. I can’t believe this is in the 77th percentile...

12 oz bottle shared with dirtymike, volgon, and lyndanova. Brown in color with some ruby highlights. Aroma is caramel and some light notes of fruit. Taste is pretty much the same, medicinal, and oxidized malt.

Bottle. Nice off-white head with a reddish hugh, spicy aroma, and bold amber color. Unfortunately, my bottles may have been skunked.

UPDATED: JAN 13, 2014 Bottle. Sweetish hops and ginger/nutmeg nose. Ruby body with a tanned-light brown head. Bitter fruity taste with roast and a little smoke. Unpleasant florality establishes itself in the mid-body. Dry and lightly spiced (nutmeg?). Crisp full body, a bit of alcohol seeping through at the end, but without warmth. A little rough, but the present level of complexity predicts a really boffo brew with some age. Thanks, Jake! [2007.05.08: 2.9]

Update: (Screw-top). Yup, had this one about right. Fresher bottle though. Seemed too spicy to start, but that faded and the thin malt took over along with a case of the blahs. Really not bad, but I’m in no rush to accidentally buy another bottle. [2014.01.13: 2.7]

Thin brown color. Burning malt aroma. A strong rubbing alcohol taste. Burnt smell and flavor. Weak palate and long lasting aftertaste that wasnt very pleasant.

The only good thing about this is the alc. percentage. Otherwise, move along to some other holiday brew

Deep dark red in colour. Sweet malty aromas... especially chocolate malt. Woody and somewhat astringent flavor. Some mild berry flavor as well. Quick finish. Not very impressive.

bottle 12 oz. 2004. bought this cause it was on special for $4.99/6. Dk brown/mahogany w small tan head that quickly diminished to a very thin ring, no lace. Aroma was cheap/macro attempt at a seasonal w some malt and min hops. Flavor is rather weak med/drk roasted malt w a pronounced bitterness on the palate and in the finish. Hop flavor is minimal. The malt flavor is a burst initially then fades quickly with the bitterness being predominant. Toward the dry. Unbalanced. Not enough malt and hop flavors. Lacks richness. Well into med bodied for a small moment then the quick fade into the bitterness. Some alcohol is noticible. I will never buy this again and will be even more leary of anything Pyramid now.
