t4h2c0 (63), seattle, USA Oct 31, 2007 Good winter beer and at 7% abv it makes for a good base beer. Full flavor that goes down way too easy. Slight spicyness and maltiness. I tried a vintage snow cap at the winter beer festival in seattle and it aged quite well, all the characteritics of the beer were enhanced, I think it was a 04 or 05.
BrotherGrendel (155), San Diego (La Jolla), California, USA Aug 23, 2008 On tap at O’Brien’s.
Appearance is an opaque amber/brown hue, thin layer of off-white bubbles, fair lacing on the glass.
Smell is dark fruits (raisins), spices (cinnamon, ginger, allspice), caramel malts in the background, quite subtle overall.
Taste is mostly raisins and dark fruits followed by slight alcohol warming and winter spices, finishes dry and sweet.
Mouthfeel is medium-bodied, watery texture, mild carbonation.
Drinkability low, this is a mediocre winter warmer with the requisite spices and malt but little else in the way of uniqueness or innovation, would not get again. nqualls (207), Tennessee, USA Aug 7, 2008 I thought this was an excellent winter warmer. Poured a clear mahogany color with minimal head. Aroma was piney with some malt. Flavor had caramel malt and pine hops. Great beer. nick76 (2038), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 17, 2008 The aroma has deep toasted malt, piny hops and caramel. The appearance is mahogany with an average head. The flavor is like the aroma with a bitter finish. The palate is thin. Overall a decent but not great beer. Palidor19 (1285), Brandon, Florida, USA Jul 17, 2008 excellent beer, its nice and toasty with some deep caramel malts and strong piny hops. it gives a nice head for excellent drinking. leninthedesert (110), Nevada, USA Jun 5, 2008 Good offering from Pyramid. Bitter fruit and yeast balanced by spruce and hops. Some alcohol taste in the finish.
