COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A 21 year tradition, Snow Cap is a proud tribute to the potent winter ales traditional to Great Britain. This heroic beer takes our full-bodied winter warmer to a whole new level. not by adding extra spices or exotic ingredients, nor by subtracting any of the magic. Instead, our brewers took the same flurry of roasted dark chocolate and caramel malts, and generous hops, and powered it all into a more concentrated experience.

Sample on draft. Pours cloudy burgandy with a large beige head that lasts forever; leaves nice lace. Aroma is caramel, raisins, boozy...inviting. Taste is malty sweet but not cloying and a little tart; leaves a somewhat bitter taste in the mouth after swallow. This was really good. I don’t know if it’s because I was on the job and got a free sample--free beer always seems to raise anyone’s spirits--or what, but this seems to be underrated on here. I was very much pleased with it.

Growler from Beer Junction. Pours medium reddish brown with thin creamy mocha head. Aroma is roasty malts with sweetish fig notes. Taste is big caramel malts followed by equal parts sticky sweetness and earthy bitter hops. Could stand to be a little less watery. Fig and raisin notes as this warms. I wouldn’t call this a double Snow Cap, but close. Definitely richer, bigger, and hoppier. Pretty hard to find too, which of course makes it more appealing.

Dark reddish amber in color, clear with a thin head. Big alcohol and malt aroma. Caramel, light chocolate and strong hops flavor. Light pine and a super dry finish. This was terrific strong ale.

Nose of over ripe dark fruit, dark chocolate, toffee, earthy bitterness, and a hint of tang. Muddy dark brown, some foam. Lots of over ripe fruit, chocolate and bitter chocolate. A light roast comes through. Sweetness lingers. A touch of dryness hangs out too. Alcohol is masked nicely.

On tap at Petes brass rail. It pours a muddy red/brown color with an orange/ brown head. The aroma is very fruity with hints of plums, raisins, and peaches. The flavor is rich and malty with sweet peaches, prunes, caramel, and a little bit of a spicy finish. Mild bitterness. Kind of simple for a barleywine.

Draft at the brewery. Pours really dark. Tan cream head. Sweet plum aroma. Dark fruit taste with some plum and raisin. Finishes with bold, dark fruit with a slight hop finish. Pretty good.
