We heap the hops into each batch of our Thunderhead IPA. A golden nectar with a striking floral aroma, Thunderhead holds a harmonious balance between its bold hop bitterness and subtle malt backbone.

Thin watery mouthfeel makes for an easy drinking brew with a nice dry hoppy finish, but just lacking in overall quality. Respectable brew all the same.

full rich aroma that dosnít fade.thin head with no lace at all. clear golden-orange color. the taste is sweet with a strong hop finish. call me crazy, but this fits in my book more like a marzen than a IPA. it was enjoyable none the less.

Quite pale in color and cloudy, with a thin head. Grapefruity with a thin bitterness. Not a lot of body to this beer or sweetness to counteract the bitterness. Fine, but low on my list of hoppy friends.

UPDATED: JUN 9, 2006 Peachy-golden color, nice overall feel in the mouth. Iím not a fan of the IPAs but I like an English strong ale, so the bits of grapefruit and later grape aroma popping through were nice. The bitterness builds over time, though a bit harsh in the finish. A palatable IPA to my taste. // Re-rate (June 2006)--after another bottle, I was particularly pleased about the intensity and vivacity of the fruitness upfront. The grapefruit is as vivid as Iíve tasted in any IPA, like whole chunks of grapefruit. The end result left me a little dry in the mouth, but there were things to enjoy here.

No attempt at balance (the malt was left behind at the brewery somewhere). Considerably bitter and verging on an Imperial IPA. Nice, but unchallenging. Believe it or not, Iíll take their Apricot Ale instead.

Tap. Medium golden color. Hop aroma and a nice robust flavor that escalates on the palate. I thought this was among the best tap beers at the Berkeley Alehouse.

Medium body, was deep gold, good head and decent lacing. Malts were on the sweeter side and hops were very ísharpí and strong, but not "astonishing" as noted above.

Bitter like most IPAís. I donít like IPAís in general, but this one was fairly good. Of course...I did have it straight from the tap at the Pyramid brewery.

very mild in the hop department, but very good malt-more like an english blended with an american ipa in feel and taste. not bad, but there are much better out there

UPDATED: JAN 19, 2006 Nice copper-amber color with a clingy-lacey head. Up front, mouthfeel is somewhat watery, but it quickly turns a little thicker and creamier. Malts, which are somewhat underplayed, are sweet and biscuity. Hop flavors are light, with grassy, hay-like notes. Hop aromas are perfumey and spicy, almost minty in a way. Hop bitterness is fairly heavy, with most of it presenting itself in the aftertaste (the high Columbus alpha acids give your tongue a little bitter snap). Overall not bad, but nothing really jumped out and excited my palate.
