Not nearly as good as Samuel Smith’s IPA, but not bad. I thought it could have used some more malt to balance the hops. I would like to try it on tap some day. Nice honey color and rather bubbly.

Poured a hazy, medium orange color with a smaller head. Aromas and tastes of flowers and citrus (grapefruits). Mildly bitter. Watery body. There’s just nothing special about this one (nothing real bad either).

On tap at the National. Watered down. Hoppy, but also astringent and metallic. Some lace and head. Not so drinkability.

crystal clear amber, thin beige head, drippy lace, sweet citrus aroma with lots of fresh hops on a carmel malt base, nice carmel malt flavor, touch of butterscotch sweetness, nice long tongue scraping bitterness,

Bottle, poured at Oakes and Beershines. Rich golden color. Fruity aroma wtih good caramel notes and hops. Flavor is pretty malty up front and then leads to some nice citrus hops. Pretty well done.

Bottle. Pine hops and honey malt aroma. Golden yellow with small head. Initially a honey malt flavor followed by a pine hops finish. One of the sweetest IPAs I’ve ever had - really works very well.

hopscotch (10563) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - AUG 15, 2003
Hazy, peach-colored ale. Small, fizzy, off-white head with good, weeping lacework. The nose is tangy and fruity with notes of grapefruit, lemon, apricot and leather. The flavor is rich with malty goodness. Grapefruit and apricot also make an appearance. Very astringent and harshly bitter with a whisper of pungency. Medium-bodied with a silky mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation. Crisp, bitter, dry finish.

Pours almost yellow with little head and low carbonation. Very bitter and unbalanced from the hops. But the hops is not smooth or citrusy or enjoyable. It is almost like chewing on raw hops buds. Aftertaste is similarly raw hops and very bitter and lingering. I would say too low gravity and too many IBUs.

"i remember having a really good imperial ipa from Pyramid once, but it must have been based on a different IPA than this one...this is the budweiser of IPA’s. anything but inspired. less aroma and flavor than one would expect."

Pours clear orange with a big white head. Aroma of hops, citrus, malt, florals. Tastes very hoppy, malty, with some citrus and floral/spice at the finish. Medium palate, but the finish had a subtle metallic twinge, which I had to make minor deductions for. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed this one, but it isn’t near my top for IPAs.
