We heap the hops into each batch of our Thunderhead IPA. A golden nectar with a striking floral aroma, Thunderhead holds a harmonious balance between its bold hop bitterness and subtle malt backbone.

Clear copper. Bitter is just right; smells of moderately sweet hops, pineapple, and peaches. Taste doesn't deviate much from the aromas, and it turns out to be a very enjoyed IPA. I was suprised it was done so well by Pyramid.

Pours clear orange with a big white head. Aroma of hops, citrus, malt, florals. Tastes very hoppy, malty, with some citrus and floral/spice at the finish. Medium palate, but the finish had a subtle metallic twinge, which I had to make minor deductions for. Donít get me wrong, I enjoyed this one, but it isnít near my top for IPAs.

2008-10-14. Hazy golden orange, modest off-white head. (3+) Modest aroma, light resin and green vegetation. (6+) Pretty mild flavour, modest bitterness throughout, light resin and hop character. (6+) Average plus palate. A decent pale ale, but a fairly weak IPA. Bottle via trade with mgermani

A solid rep of the style, with a slighty soapy character to the dominant cascade profile, and a shorter-than-average finish. Nice bitterness though.

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2014 Bottle. Orange pour with a white head. Pine resin nose. Nice easy drinking hop flavor - not over the top but good character.

Pours with a rocky, off-white head with a chill-hazed golden body. Some lacing. Floral hops, grapes and prunes in the aroma. Hoppy bitterness followed by a dryness that ends in astringency in the finish. Watery mouthfeel.

Draft - Mild nose with fruity citrus hops. Clear gold with thick persistent head. Punch of bitterness and grapefruit hops. A long but entirely unpleasant finish. The mild nose masks the strength but a decent IPA.

marcus (7562) - Sacramento, California, USA - JAN 6, 2010
Pours golden with a decent off-white head and pineish (is that a real word?) aroma. Itís light on caramel malt, but heavy on the hops. So what you have is a bitter but lackluster beer.

phaleslu (7546) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUN 30, 2009
Had a pint at Palomino in downtown Cincinnati. Golden-orange pour. Mild aroma, hoppy with a little citrus. Gave the impression of a fairly straightforward IPA until I actually drank it. Very poor IPA overall; tasted as if an unpleasant chemical were added that afternoon. Somewhat bitter with no reward. Unnatural aftertaste. Disappointing- easily the worst Pyramid beer Iíve tasted.

Bottle. Amber colored beer with a medium white head. Aroma of pine and citrus, but not as much as many IPAís. Body tingles a bit and has some carbonation. Flavor has a rich malt backbone with a nice bitterness to it that lingers - otherwise your typical tar and citrus with a hint more of the alcohol. Not bad - and probably their best beer, but there are better breweries.
