RunDWP (178), San Jose, California, USA May 27, 2008 Bottle. Nice piney, hoppy aroma. Pours a clear orange color with a white head. I found this a unique flavor for an IPA, sort of piney, malty flavor with a grapefruit finish. Low carbination gave this a slightly creamy mouthfeel. I’m not a big IPA fan but this works well for me.
dp (486), uniontown, Ohio, USA Sep 27, 2008 bitter, hops make this very bitter, yet a sense a hint of malt, not certain how to explain the aroma other than a malty IPA? a good effort stchloe (197), Portland, Oregon, USA Sep 27, 2008 Very bitter IBU, but the hop profile is simplistic and could be improved. Otherwise tasty IPA. Delirium (433), Santa Cruz, California, USA Sep 21, 2008 Bottle. Pours clear golden-amber with a moderate white head. Aroma is grassy and grainy, with some pine and citrus hops, and a bit of sweet malt. Flavor is an odd combination of sweet caramel malt, vegetal character, pine and citrus hops, and in the finish, quite bitter, woody hops. Hint of alcohol. Not bad. noncaloric (102), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Sep 20, 2008 Summary: Bitterness dominates the more pleasant aspects of hops in this IPA. Aroma: Mostly grassy, pine and citrus hops are there, but less so than the vegetal element. Appearance: Hazy amber gold, puts up a finger of white head with nice retention and lacing. Flavor: Grassy bitterness throughout. Some pine and citrus at the front, giving way to a worty malt body. Finishes bitter, somewhat soapy. Palate: Creamy from the carbonation, mouthcoating in the bitter finish. Slightly warming. dm9831 (601), Monee, Illinois, USA Sep 7, 2008 hazy copper body, very, very fizzy looking, lively off-white head, some lacing. nose of citrus hops, hint of malty sweetness. flavor of bitter citrus, some kind of unappealing creaminess. medium bodied, bitter finish. you would think that this one would be right in my wheel-house, but there is something weirdly unappealing. overall, pretty disappointing try at my favorite style.
