"another in the long line of pyramid wheat beers that start to blend together after a while. well balanced and fresh when had, but not a big loss that it’s no longer around."

2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20
~Grainy wheaty aroma, berry fruitiness like raspberry, bready.
~Pours a very clear golden color with small wispy white head.
~Minerally flavor, like sparkling mineral water, light grain and sweetness, light earthy spicy hop.
~medium light bodied, very high CO2, quick bitter dry finish.
~A bit bland in flavor. Easy to drink. Good subsitute for a Macro brewed Lager.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Pours a clear golden color with a moderate off-white head on there. Nose has some very slight citrus elements to it with a heck of a lot of wheat in there. Taste is slightly sweet and heavily grain oriented, but has just a hint of citrus to lighten it up. Still just a tad heavier than I would prefer. Meh.

Bottle. Cloudy amber, thin head. Pine hop aroma softened by some wheat notes. Very bitter and just a little sour in the finish.

Pyramid Ales Wheaten Ale 1997 12 oz. Yes 5.00% 4.0 / 5.0 Hefeweizen Have. Not Reviewed.
Pyramid Ales Wheaten Ale--Brown 1998 12 oz. Yes 5.00% 3.5 / 5.0 Hefeweizen Slightly better than Gold version, probably due to longer aging. This is older packaging. Slightly cloudy, but definitely filtered. 10/18/1998
Pyramid Ales Wheaten Ale--Gold 1999 12 oz. Yes 5.00% 2.5 / 5.0 Hefeweizen Lost alot of body in filtering process. Good flavor but missing richness and depth. Light. Light golden color. 10/16/1998

Sorry to all had this years ago and am re rating. I thought it was light refreshing and kicked the hell out of our local wheat ales, grasshopper and velvet fog. Page 376 of Michael Jackson’s Great Beer Guide and only 283 of his Classic 500 Brews to go.

UPDATED: NOV 18, 2003 Easy ale. Not too bad, but definaly not good. It's easy w/ little taste and little cloudiness. Dark (piss) yellow, thick head that became nothing but average and thin. Won't buy again!
