2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 DandyLion (224) - Leicester, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - JAN 18, 2013
Cask @ Kings Head, Leicester. A golden ale that had ginger in it, innit. Smells like a slightly ginger golden ale. Tastes like ginger but only at first, no ginger to finish. You'd expect some heat and ginger to finish but no, it's all up front. So it's a bit shallow

UPDATED: DEC 31, 2012 Cask at the Black Country Arms, Walsall. Poured a fairly clear amber with a thin white head and bags of lace. The aroma is malty and that’s where it ends. The flavour is medium bitter, dry, spicy on the palate and with some fruity notes. A super ale and very drinkable but I can’t say I got the ginger!

The ginger is apparent in aroma and flavours, but is not overbearing, hops are also evident in the aroma.

Cask gravity at Six Bells Woodchurch. Yes some ginger on this. Clear pale amber colour. Quite light on the ginger. Some bite on finish. Ok. Nothing of great remark here.

Cask conditioned at The Lamb & Flag, Oxford. Hazed Amber with white head. This was quite a sweetish, sugary beer for me, some fruitiness, some spice but closer to cinnamon than ginger I thought. Just a bit sticky in the close, cloying. Ok but not one to return to.

Cask gravity, Coventry BF, 13/04/12. Sweet, un-gingery aroma that’s difficult to pin down; cinder toffee, coffee buttercream, vanilla ice cream, rhubarb and lychee. Good lychee citrus with a late squirt of heatless ginger, more rhubarb. Late biscuit. Pretty balanced.
