Bottle courtesy of Craig at Craigs doing a Chris O tasting, Edingburgh (ta for the beer Craig) Saturday 15th March Subtle aroma, citrus, a little smokiness. Apparently the hops are smoked, a little light chocolate on the nose but is a good light smokey chocolate citrussy its nice in fact I really like the choc and lime combination. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov16 3.9

Opaque dark brown with a woody brown decent head. Very odd bittered smoky aroma, lemony and cool slate. Like someone has just sprayed Mr Muscle on a bag of smoldering dark chocolate. Incredibly intriguing bitterness throughout, dry yet packed in hop quench. Rich mouthfeel and softly carbonated. There’s a proper clean cut tang to the finish, again that cooling slate bitterness envelopes cold coffee and sugar free Cola linger. Ash and weather beaten leather later on. Pretty good going.

Cask, Cloisters

UPDATED: MAR 12, 2014 Gravity at Manchester Beer Festival From Notes. Nose vanilla, cherry, cream, slight coco. The taste followed with a lot of smoke not alluded to by the nose. Mouthfeel was good. A highlight of the festival Bottle: 12/03/14 Nose is more muted, the woodtones more pronounced. Taste is beautifully smoked, subtler and sweeter than most smoked beer I have tried which often go for weight. The smoke does not leave much space for anything else that came out in the draft beer, maybe a little vanilla and lots of wood.
