jvmiller (300), Bel Air, Maryland, USA May 17, 2007 Updated: Jan 27, 2008 On tap at the Quay. Pretty good for their beer, my favorite out of all of theirs. Lightly crisp with slight hop bitterness. Good with food, but not acidic food like tomato bisque.
RERATE: Had it again, this time the batch was overhopped. Not nearly as good. RERATE: There beers are very inconsistent. This time it was very well done. Slight biscuity malt backbone, a touch of hops. Balance was nice.
milljam (166), Norman, Oklahoma, USA Feb 10, 2008 Overall....a decent pale ale...depending on when you have it. A bit inconsistent in the brew process. Varies between pretty good and not that noticable. If its good, it will be have a light hop crispness with a nice biscuit malt backbone...but at other times it will be overhopped, or be just plain watery. This rate is an average of the 5 times I have had the beer. detroiter (957), Euphoria, Minnesota, USA Jan 27, 2007 Pours a reddish copper color, looking something like iced tea. About an inch of light tan head, consisting of small, tightly packed bubbles. No lace. A lot of sweet malt in the aroma, very pleasant.
After reading the beer description, and therefore expecting a hoppier beer, I am surprised at the malt. Sweet and delicious - lots of caramel and honey flavor. Nicely balanced with delicate hops - not sure of the variety. Smooth tasting, medium body, softly carbonated. Sweet malt and some hop bitterness in the aftertaste.
More of a British style of pale ale than an American style. Crockett (903), Steelback County, Ontario, Canada Aug 3, 2004 Pours light amber with a white soapy head. Toasted and hoppy. Soft mouthfeel with some burnt notes. Some molases and a little salt in the bitter dry finish. Good pale ale. daboskabouter (1469), Fergus, Ontario, Canada Nov 16, 2003 Lightly hazy golden color, little white head. Light fruity/piney hops. Smooth body, thick with resiny and piney hops. Light citrus notes surrounded by a light malt feathering. Nicely balanced pale ale, but coming across a bit timid.
