Linc (736), Sydney, Australia Dec 21, 2003 Despite the enthusiasm with which motelpogo proffered this before me, I found it to be rather unexciting. Sweet, sugary golden syrup flavour, no discernable bitterness nor hop presence in any form for that matter. I'll give it another go some other time, just to be fair. duff (5407), Sydney, Australia, Surrey, England Oct 2, 2003 Sweet mollasses, choc/caramel/toffee, some roast in the finish, rotting fruit, honey and mollasses. Really sweet and ugly. But works out to be OK in the end. Not as bad as it sounds. Betty (231), Walgett, NSW, Australia May 7, 2003 Yes, Venice post nuclear holocaust... This is a classic Aussie dark old. I love this kind of beer: lip smackingly yum, thick and swiggable served in schooners with Newcastle folk all about and ferry views. Nesta13 (188), Australia Feb 9, 2002 Thick and bitter, not as smooth as say Tooheys Old but enjoyable all the same. motelpogo (4124), Plzen, Czech Republic Oct 3, 2001 Updated: Apr 27, 2003chunkier than your typical old and tastier too. thick black, not overly carbonated with a rich brown head. espresso and vanilla ice cream. had a few of these last weekend and each glass was better than the previous and did i mention the stunning harbour that the brewery is situated upon? what a town. the venice of australia
