Available cask-conditioned and sterile-filtered bottles. A rich, appealing aroma and colour give a hint of the prospect to come. The balance of subtle bitterness and sweet malt flavours make that prospect a reality. Thirst quenching and eminently drinkable; a fine quaffing ale.

A mid orange-red coloured beer with a off white coloured head. A light fruity aroma, hoppy and a hint of malt in the background. Dry mouthfeel. A mild bitterness to start with, light pithy citrus fruit, with a slightly sweeter malt flavour, all of which fades towards the end, leaving the finish a little lacking. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

bottle from Trumü’s Sidmouth (08/2010). Chestnu-brown colour, aroma of citrusy hops and old socks and sweat. Malty with hints of caramel. Citrusy hops in the finish. Interesting, quite nice actually.

Cask conditioned handpump The Pub Leicester. An amber coloured beer with an off-white loose head. There is some slight diacetyl in the aroma with fruit and maltiness. There is some interesting burnt toast and touches of sweetness in the mouth. A bit of crunch. Could do with more body but it’s fine.

Cask at the Live and Let Live, Cambridge. Reddish copper with a ring of white head; the aroma is musty and mushroomy, but rather pleasant; sweet fruity malt flavours and a sour fruity finish. Different.

Cask-conditioned at the Royal Oak, Bath 18/07/09. Quercus produced a festival special called "Julian House" for the RO, but the descriptions here look very similar and the ABV was the same, so I am rating it here. Copper coloured with a slight, off-white head. Fruity malts, with a hint of citrus and earthy hops, ending bitter. Ok.

Bottle. Amber beer with a strongish head. The aroma is well hopped, floral and dry. The flavour is biiter, roasted but quite malty and watery. Overall an OK beer but could be better.

Bottled, filtered, 500ml from Quercus Brewery Bottleshop. Tawny bronze with white head. Initially it was just another malty bottled bitter, but this improved in the glass immensely. Rich malts with hints of roasty sweetness, full bodied bitterness and a lingering dry hoppiness. Really pretty good for a 4% bottled bitter.
