imdownthepub (4248), Banbury, Oxfordshire, England Oct 24, 2008 Bottle conditioned, 500ml from Quercus Brewery & Bottleshop, Kingsbridge, Devon. Very dark brown with ruby hints, tan head. Darkly roasted malts with a toffee, sweetish background flavour, didn’t get too much of the bitterness, not like a stout, but did get smooth, liquorice, smokey flavours. deep and full, its a decent fireside beer for the winter months. Pretty good. RichardGretton (2746), Leicestershire, England Sep 16, 2008 Bottle. Black beer with a strongish head. The aroma is milky, coffee and lightly roasted. The flavour is bitter, roasted and slightly milky coffee. Overall a really good beer. greenmanalishi (222), Leicestershire, England Aug 30, 2008 Pours dark ruby-brown with a dispersed, rose-white head. mostly disappointed therin; little aroma, watery and thin bitter roasted malt flavour and texture. weaselkenievil (397), Cheshire, England Jul 7, 2008 Bottle. Unfortunate for this beer to be sat next to a who’s who in porters on my kitchen table. It’s still a good drink just not that good. Dark malts and chocolate, bitter finish, the usual for the style. Nice, will have to drink it again and not be so hard on it. johndoughty (1692), cheslyn hay, West Midlands, England Apr 20, 2008 Bottle. Dark malty and slightly smoked.Medium body with a slight bitterness. A very impressive porter that puts to shame similar beers from much larger breweries.
