I tasted severall oude bruin from this brewer and I am not sure I can really make a difference. This one is nearly as good as the Duchesse, although it might be somewhat more simple. There is no such glue note. Easier drink maybe.

Bottle at Dikkenek Cafe, Lyon. Reddish brown, clear with a fair bit of visible carbonation. Soy sauce, turpentine and cedar aroma. Intense sour taste. However you may feel about sour bruins, you have to admire the way the best ones hang together. It’s an intense and focused experience, and an honour to make this beer’s acquaintance.

Cola pour, small head. A: reminds of Rodenbach, sour, oak note, alcohol, sour cherry. T: sweet Rodenbach like beer. Starts with sour cherry note, balsamic, basil. Gentle sour bitterness, bit peppery. Good balance. Fruity sour aftertaste, apples. Not bad, slightly sweeter version of Rodenbach.

lightly hazy gold with light corriander and Spicwy yeast esters on nose. Fluffy white head collapsing to bout, peppery, very high carbonation, touch of higher alcohols. Fairly simple but does a job

bartlebier (3249) - Belchium im Biersgau, GERMANY - JUN 11, 2015
33cl bottle at Potje Paté, Veurne 2013, from notes. Matte mahogani pour. Inviting mildly sweet&sour, caramel and balsamic nose, with fruity strawberry caramels dominating. Interplay of sweet and sour starts off promising (fata morganas of red berries on the bough quickly dispelled), quickly dissipating into a slumping strawberry jam on dark bread. Lacking an expressive mouthfeel and taste peaks. A pedestrian distant niece to Gouden Band. Goes well enough with thick slices of rustic paté, though.
