4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
330 ml bottle during Brussels vacation, at Deliciés. Reddish brown with off white head. Aroma is sweet and sour, acidity, vinegar and red berries. Taste is nicely balanced, sweet, sour, lots of vinegar, lactic acid, some malt notes and red berries. Really nice beer, reminds me of Duchesse de Borgogne but not as cloyingly sweet.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours clear copperbrown , OK white head . Smell is bit sweet , bit metallic funky sourness . Taste is fleshy , sour-sweet . A lot like duchesse de bourgogne ( noted down even before I knew this one was brewed by Verhaeghe .. is this a secret alias ??? ) , fruity and full .

Beautiful color, dark mahogany with red sparkles; small creamy head. The aroma is fruity, moderately sour, creamy, and there is some vinous wood too. Good mouthfeel quite round, as it still has some pleasant sweetness; malt flavor corrected by the typical Verhaeghe winey sour and fruity touch. The bitterness is quite low, and the final medium short. Complex and beautifully aged.
Clean dark amber color; creamy head. Original aroma: malt, sourness, cherries, toffee, caramel, cookies… Smooth, sweet and lightly sour, very similar to Duchesse de Bourgogne (therefore good!). Dangerously drinkable!

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Dark red colour, it pours a nice brown creamy foam that last for a while. Nose of acid apples, coriander, fennel. Spicy. Taste is very acid, but pleasant, refreshing. Fruity, with apples and most of all cherries. It makes you ask for another.

Bottle. Beautiful red/brown body with a beige head. Aroma has a certain cellar character with well-matured sweet cherry, just delicious. Flavor delivers most of the expectations from the aroma. Very harmonic balance between sweet and sour. The flavor is dominated by cherry, but in a matured way.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottled (1998 vintage) at Man in the Moon, Stockholm. Clear dark ruby, minimal head. Lightly acidic cherry aroma. Fairly sweet with rounded gentle mouthfeel. Balsamic mouthfilling cherry flavour with some freshening acidity. Mild and creamy despite fairly light body and concentrated flavour. Superb! If it would lose some sweetness it would reach heaven!

Bottle. Pours a deep, dark, ruby red with a large, smooth, beige head. Aroma is sour with vinegar, light caramel, cherry candy. Taste is semi-sweet and quite sour. Taste is cherry, caramel, cherry candy, some vinegar as well. Delicious. Palate is smooth, quite full, not much carbonation. Superbly delicious.

Dobre. Uwielbiam ten styl. Kolebka regionalnej tradycji belgijskiej. Octowy i winny smak jak i zapach. chmielnego aromatu nie ma bo w tym gatunku to było by grzechem. Piekna bezowa i trwala piana czerwony odcien piwa. I ta lekka cierpkosc ze stosowna nuta slodyczy w tle. Debowy posmak takze jest.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
A deep red beer with an fine head. The aroma is sharp, fruity and sweet - probably stemming from a mixture of wild- and controlled fermentation. The flavor is sweet in the beginning, then sharp - which lingers a long time, and the aftertaste is sharp and sour. A good beer, but not as good as I had expected after trying The Duchesse.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: SEP 16, 2007 Bottled. Bubbly and friable foam. Reddish dark color, much somber and racy, optimal fizz. Pleasant and balanced aroma; notes of must, red grape, raspberries and cherry cake. Crisp and balsamic taste; moderate and balanced malty rumors, good acidity and alcoholic perception. Long and persistent sour end. Not too watery, not too alcoholic, not too soupy... excellent.
