[2013-20090219] Bottle. Dry chalky yeast aroma with mild fruity malt hints. Hazy, light orange body with a long-lasting foamy white head and big lacing. Dry sour chalky yeast flavour that finishes woody. Medium body. A bit odd.
Overheard: "I went to a spinning class -- I know it’s gay. My butt is sore."

Pours a cloudy golden color with a medium, bubbly, white head. Nice aroma of yeast, hops and citrus. The flavor is sweet, there’s also yeast and hops. The body is medium with a creamy texture and gentle carbonation.

Bottle (750ml) shared with HogTownHarry, garthicus, GregClow, jerc & mabel -- c/o HogTownHarry. Pours a hazy yellow-orange with a large frothy white head. Aroma’s slightly sweet and fruity along with sweet malt, yeast and honey. Flavour’s floral, slightly perfumy, with spices, yeast and just hint of alcohol. Average bitter finish. Average bodied. It’s O.K., it’s not great, just good.

2009-02-19. Hazy golden yellow body with a decent sized fluffy white head. (3+). Aroma is fairly mild, light alcohol, yeast, delicate floral overtones. (6+) Mild yeasty character, sweet malts and mild florals. Light bitterness in the finish is just enough to prevent it from getting a bit cloying. Note of something not quite daffodil like. (I wrote daffodil but I am pretty sure I meant dandelion...) Smooth average palate has a pleasant carbonation. (3+) Enjoyable, average. Bottle shared by HogTownHarry

Bottle (750ml). Shared with blankboy, garthicus, gregclow, jerc and mabel, via trade with glouglouburp. Cloudy light amber pour, large frothy white head, decent remnant of lace. Sweet and yeasty aroma, not too boozy - spicy and fruity; nice! Taste - bitterness from the alcohol, slightly grassy - pungent. Somewhat thick body, quite lively, the yeast and fruit really last into the finish. Thanks, Dany, this one’s quite sophisticated.

Dégusté avec french tickler le 14 mai 2007. Lightly cloudy golden poor with a foamy white head. Aromas of pinnaples, peppery, peaches, apricot. You can definitely feel and taste the alcohol. Good bitterness and sweet presence. Very lively effervescence. Lacing is apparent. Added green bananas to the flavors. creamy mouthfeel with a long bitter aftertaste. Good overall. NOTE: to drink around 8-10 degrees celcius.

Objectively speaking: An efficient and potent dark blond Belgian.
I like: Ample body is a remarkable example of the style. Fair malty impression with its soft biscuity tones on top of the honeyed sweetness. Dry enough with a fair noble hop grip. I was surprised to read it is brewed at verhaeghe, it has the flavour profile I’ve come to expect from a Van Steenberge. Classic appearance.
I dislike: Not much finesse. Alcohol is there indeed, but at 11%, this can be forgiven. Rather simple yeast profile not completely baked white brad.

My Bottom Line:
Doughy yeast, spicy hops and fiery alcohol coalesce in this voracious Belgian Strong Ale.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A fluffy head of foam bobs atop the hazy blond orange.
-The mouthfeel is pillowy, which is appreciated with such a potent flavor profile.
-Carbonation is expansive.
-Alcohol doesn’t burn too long, as it is overtaken by a herbal hop bitterness.
-The doughy yeast is present from nose to finish.

Bottle - 750ml. Hazy blond body with average carbonation and a lasting white foamy head. Nice hoppy aroma with herbal and flowery hints. Its sharp hoppy taste partly hides the alcohol and carries yeasty notes. Texture is soft. Ends with a good bittersweet and warming finish. Enjoyable!
