1892 Traditional Ale was the first beer ever brewed at Quidi Vidi Brewery. This exceptional ale is brewed using the finest two row malt and North American and European hops. Rich malt sweetness which is balanced by the perfect amount of mild hop bitterness. Pours a rich amber color and offers a clean finish

Great beer with a nice fruity aroma from the hops. Went well with the local fish and chips.

Appearance: clear pale to medium amber with a short loose foamy ivory head diminishing gradually to nothing, no lacing. (3/5) Aroma: caramel, bready yeast, grassy. (6/10) Taste: moderate sweet, mild bitter. (6/10) Palate: medium body, moderate carbonation, short duration off-dry finish. (3/5) One of their best, second only to their British IPA (which when fresh is in my opinion world-class). This isn’t world-class, by any means, but it’s solid. The malt profile leads the way, but the caramel aromas don’t translate into sickly sweetness, and there’s appropriate grassy bittering in the finish. I wouldn’t call it my “go to” but if faced with the typical choice of local product, this is the one I’d take. (12/20)

Aroma of malt and grain, pours a dark amber color with a thin white head. Taste of roasted malt with a light to medium body and a roasted malt finish.

341 ml bottle via DB. Pours a light amber with a mid-size white head. Aromas are grainy, vegetal and a little like an empty plastic garbage bag. Tastes are dominated by caramel maltiness but it is dry, not sweet. Medium body and carbonation, short malty finish. I could enjoy one but definitely not a go to.

This was wayyyyyyyyyy better than the Iceberg one I tried but still just ho-hum. A copper pour with a thin head. Quite malty, caramel, bread, grains and some light nutiness. I wish it was a bit hoppier to keep it balanced. It has got a nice flavour, I would enjoy it more if the feel was a bit thicker to match the malted goodness.

On tap and in bottle; this was OK. I like amber ale’s though found this a little hoppy and dry for my liking Overall it was OK ... but nothing special

341 ml bottle from Sherbrooke Liquor via Ryan (thanks!), served cool in a tulip glass.

App.: Clear copper with a decent tan head. Aroma: Lots of grains/cereals, mashy, a bit of caramel/toffee, smells like caramel malt. Palate: Medium body, moderate effervescence. Flav.: Much like the nose, mainly caramel malt, grain/cereal, meh; dry with limited bitterness and a pleasant toffee finish.

Seem to recall this tasting better back in the day. Changes to the beer or to my palate...hard to say.

Bottle courtesy of @kgamiller all the way from the Rock itself.Clear amber pour with a bubbly white head. Not at all what was expected. Clear amber pour with a bubbly white head, little retention.Aroma is stagnant grassy, vegetabley malts with a skunky hoppy note. Certainly hope this was a sour bottle mayhaps - as this was a buttery fart in a bottle. An ungodly mess unworthy of Newfoundland.

Not their best beer but overall pretty good. Not too much of an aftertaste. You can definitely taste the hops, beer was really fresh. Mark Skinner

Sample at Picaroon's Brewer's Bash. Sweet, malty taste, light bitterness on the finish. Overall, rather British and sweet, but enjoyable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
