Big bottle (there are so many big bottles in Argentina!). Dark amber colour. Aroma of caramel, toasted malts, some hoppiness. Bit sweet flavour of caramel and toasted malts, some alcohol, with a sweet bit bitter finish. An ok brew.

Bottle: Quite flat and boring for a ´bock´ beer, very close to it’s brother brew. Watery, plain, boring. Heineken do something here, you’re dying!

CAN Chestnut colored beer with a frothy tiny off-white head. Awful aroma of grains, cooked vegetables, metal odor from the can and a totally unpleasant alcoholic hint. Very soft flavor. Light bodied, watery texture a bit of bitterness in the finish. Horrible.

Dark brown ale with a thin big bubbled off white head. Light caramel malt aroma, light hops, a bit artificial. In mouth, a nutty malt with light hops, light bodied, some lingering metallic notes. Some chocolate appears as it warms up. Not as bad as cristal.

Can 354 ml: Pours an opaque red/brown color with a small, fully diminishing beige head that leaves a small lacing. Weird aroma. What the hell is this?! The only malty smell I found was a little of caramel (probably artificially added). There are notes of metal from the can and some herbs and grapefruit from the hops. I found also some hints of sour milk. How could this be a Bock?. Flavor is soft, sweet but with a hoppy trace always present. It gives this beer a very un-bock taste. There’s a bit of orange, bitter chocolate and Coca Cola. Where is the malty character?. Dissapointing would be an overstatement. Light body and watery texture, this is definitely a dark lager. A bad one. Alcohol is well-hidden at least. Finish is short and nothing special. Lagerish aftertaste. Bad. Another one brought by my mother from Mendoza, Argentina.

Bottle "Bock" it says. It pours a brownish color, beige head that quickly vanishes . Aroma is sweet and so are flavor and aftertaste, the last one being slightly roasted. It doesn´t lives up to being a bock, but i prefer it to any pale lager.

UPDATED: MAY 20, 2005 I brought this particular can of beer back with me a while ago. But it’s still clear and actually tastes better than I remember! Must be due to the alcohol. I was immediately impressed by the pronounced flavor upon my first sip. It’s a flavor that dissipates after a while though. Nice lace on the glass and a light lingering head. The color is that of a traditional brown ale. This beer is much better than I remember. I’d suggest for the patient to get a case and sock it away for a while, taking out a can or bottle once per month over a year or two. I bet it gets much better. Go Quilmes! I had orignially anticipated that the color was only from malt syrup added, but perhaps there is more going on here. Not bad, not bad....

Aweful beer. No aroma present at all but a little malt. Actually seems like a malted, colored very low-quality pilsner.

Imbibed in December 2002. Faint, faint aroma of malt with the lightest hop flavor. Clear ruby color with a thick white head that has a tinge of tan to it. And I know where the color comes from - caramel coloring. Shame on them! Watery malt flavor with a tad of caramel. Low carbonation. Not satisfying but different than the other Quilmes beers.

This is a nasty beer, you can taste the tettnanger hops, but it is way to bitter, there is none of the malty fullness that you would expect from a decent dark lager.
