Day 2 of the post Xmas Bamberg Jolly, Cafe Abseits Tasting bottle (2013 vintage), big thanks to Ronny, rlgk 25/01/14. Dark mahogony brown with a moderate beige covering. Nose is dark toffee, earthy cocoa, booze, chocolate, musty undertones. Taste comprises rich chocolate, dark malt, toffee fudge, roasty underpin, very subtle oaky booze, simple but tasty. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, drying finale with a splash of booze. Good stuff.

Bottled 500ml @Per 2013 vintage
Dark opaque black color, small brown head. Toasty notes, some bourbon-vanilla. Medium to full bodied. Sticky, some coffee, lots of vanilla. Good beer but lacks something from real high points. Perhaps a bit too sweet.

Intense butterscotch, vanilla and bourbon aroma.
Dark brown with thin beige head
Butterscotch and malty sweetness in the aroma, Not as bitter as the one not aged on barrel. Some coffe and bitterness in tha finish.
Full body, soft carbonation and creamy texture <bt> A really nice porter that is mostly better than the unaged, but the unaged have more bitterness that nicely cuts of the sweet maltyness.

How: Bottle.
Where: Systembolaget.
Appearance: Black colour with a small beige head.
Aroma: Liquorice, some vanilla, roasted malt, chocolate.
Body: Medium body, low carbonation.
Flavour: Liquorice, dried fruit, chocolate, raisin, caramel.
Comment: Was rather disappointed with this one. Had expected so much more. Not bad, but nothing that raises it above an average strong porter.

Black brew with brown edges resting underneath a solid light brown foam. Aroma is dense cookie dough, brighter chocolate, light bourbon and fine liquer. Flavor is superbly balanced with generous amounts of roasted barley brining notes of liqourice, bitter chocolate and coffe to the table, all rounded of by mellow bourbon notes, dark fruit character ending on a vinous semi-dry note. Overall intense but balanced in a way few darker "imperials" manages to be, all flavors delivered by a silky smooth, ellegant palate.
