On tap at St Augustine’s in Vancouver. An almost black beer, with a tan head. Pronounced coffee note, followed by nondescript malts. Very one-dimensional coffee beer, in the vein of Philips Longboat Porter, which is to say..not great. 3.

Black coffee, nutty Hickory, and chocolate in the aroma with plenty of roasted malt apparent. Opaque darkest brown body is topped a decent, fine-bubbled, tan head that lasts well. Flavour follows the aroma though it is perhaps a touch less sweet than expected and the chocolate notes are lost in the roast which leaves a slightly sour finish. Medium body could use a bit more carbonation to liven it up. Altogether very drinkable but not going to become a favourite. Tulip glass. Just above fridge temperature. Bottle purchased at the liquor store in Tinseltown in April 2013.

650 ml bottle. Pours a dark brown with red hints and little head. Aromas of black coffee and light chocolate. Similar flavors with a hint of cola and dark fruit. Dry. Medium body. Nice for the low ABV.

Dark brown. The aroma has is nutty and coffeeish. The taste is strongly coffeeish, smooth and balanced by ample sweet malts. A well-balanced example.

light-roasted coffee flavour mixed with malty and light chocolaty backdrops. Medium/light-bodied and clean finish. Some hints of red berry and nuts. 1/2way through the bottle, tasted somewhat bland and repetitive.

Bottled. A deep red beer with a thin tan head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, and coffee. The flavor is sweet with notes of coffee, roasted malt, caramel, and sweet malt, leading to a dry bitter finish. Thanks fiulijn for sharing.

Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of fiulijn. Pours a dark brown with a reddish hue and a beige head. Dry hard roast coffee aroma - a little chili-like - with a beige head. Medium body, some hard roast but also quite a metallic touch. A little vanilla and ashes. Ends dry. A little too thin to support the roast. 080411

Coca cola color, low carbonation. Strong sweet milky coffee aroma. Rather thin, the body does not quite deliver what the aroma promises. Sugar, milk, coffee in the finish. Too thin.
