Had this one @ CBF 2010. Black colored brew. Hoppy aroma, chocolate. Flavor has roasted malts, chocolate, hops. Good viscosity.

Deep black pour with a thin brown head. Pleasant aroma of vanilla, roasted malt and chocolate. Good flavor of roasted malt, vanilla and chocolate. The body is medium with a liquorous texture and gentle carbonation. Very good, but I prefer the oak-aged impy stout to this one.

Tab @ CBF. Black pour with no head and minimal rim, rather viscous. Aroma is stuffed with dark berries, vanilla, roasted malts, dark fruits - rather refreshing actually. Taste has Berries, brown sugar, roasted malts, slight vanilla undertones, a bit of coffee and a lot of roast in the after taste. Medium to large body, low carbonation, medium to long duration.

Oakes (10941) - Savusavu, FIJI ISLANDS - APR 3, 2010
Dark brown. The head falls quickly. The aroma has some dark fruit, but is surprisingly limited. Tarry thick with maybe a little dark fruit, not a ton of nuance. There’s a bit of alcohol late and a lot of dark malt sweetness.

Bottle. Black with fizzy head that fades fast to nothing leaving a thin cola-looking beer. Aroma is hot with some minerals, coffee, and vanilla. Too thick for its own good. Is dry and bitter like a burly espresso.

(on bottle) Dry toasted nose, like burned toast actually. Perfect soft carbonation to the heavy chocolatish taste. Dosen´t get dry at ant point, rumbles on into coffee and molasses.

25 cl bottle (cute!) from Bieropholie, served at cellar temperature in a snifter. BB 19.05.2018 (holy!).

App.: Very deep brown black with a fragile dark mocha head. Aroma: Yowza! Really big, deep and thick. Lots of black coffee, dark chocolate, huge black strap molasses, some licorice, soy sauce, a little leafy hops, vanilla and lighter chocolate, a wee hint of tang (vinous), some hints of dark dried fruit and navy rum, a few esters, massive. Palate: Medium-full body, elegant yet sparse effervescence and an overall very silky, creamy feel. Flav.: Everything promised by the nose. Huge gobs of dark chocolate, black coffee, thick, dripping molasses, licorice, a little wood, some woodsy, earthy, slightly soapy hop notes, wee bits of vinous tang, a little soy sauce, small amounts of vanilla, esters come through, now leafy, pine hops, just keeps going!; sweet with very nice, warming alcohol and moderate bitterness with a beautiful med-roasted coffee and rich chocolate finish.

Superb. Great things come in small packages!

Entered to celebrate my rating number 16,000. A black beer with a red shine under a thick brown head. The aroma has notes of sweet and roasted malt as well as alcohol. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of roasted malt and whiskey.

(25cl bottle, BB 19.05.2010) Pours a dark brown (near black) body with a no head. Aroma of roasted malt, burnt grain, and chocolate. Flavor of roasted malt, heavy alcohol, chocolate, and some licorice with a dry finish.
