Taste is light sweet and light to medium bitter with notes of port wine, licorice, chocolate and light booze. Medium to full bodied with minimal carbonation. Quite nice.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 jaghana (2829) - Strasbourg (France), FRANCE - FEB 10, 2013
Bottle 37,5cl from Henrik thanks, 2005 batch ! A dark beer without head and carbonation. Nose is on dark malt, with prune and caramel touch. Aroma is intense on dark malt, caramel and licorice, notes of prune and light oxidation, nice complexity, oily texture, very pleasant, dark chocolate notes, relatively easy to drink, very long licorice and toffee finish, excellent beer. Compared to the recipe, the US hops are less powerful here, malty dimension take the head and the 8 year vintage let the body more fruity ans less aggressive I think, very interesting.

37,5 cl bottle @ home, BBE 01.09.2015
Pitch black pour with no head at all. Aroma is sour with berries and some rubber. Flavour has glue, alcohol, some burned malt and rubber. Like a Mikkeller Black light. What is this shit? Probably a bad bottle.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 tiong (2242) - Espoo, FINLAND - AUG 18, 2012
375ml bottle from Barley Wine, Copenhagen
Pours pitch black with a bubbly head. Aroma of solvent notes, roasted malts, some fruity notes and glue. Taste is stingy and sour with some roasty notes, hints of hops and berries. Strong roasty and boozy finish with notes of hops and fruits. Unbalanced, not very tasty. Perhaps has seen its best days.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 lusikka (4039) - Tampere, FINLAND - AUG 18, 2012
375 ml bottle.
Pours a black colour with a small foamy head. Aroma of roasted malts, something sour and quite interesting birch leaves. Flavour of roasted malts, very disturbing glue, sour berries, grass, overly ripe mango and bubblegum. Medium bodied, oily mouthfeel and low carbonation. Very, very weird. Not pleasant at all. A bad bottle, perhaps?

Bottle @ René’s house. Thanks. Deep brown appearance with a small tan head. Minty, spruce, herbal, light anise, chocolate aroma. Pretty thin, minty, piney, herbal, chocolate flavor. Too thin at this point.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 phredrik (986) - Copenhagen (formerly Aalborg), DENMARK - JUN 24, 2012
Re-rate from bottle Old label version. The black pour yields no head aside from a few soapy bubbles on the rim of the glass. The first thing I notice about the aroma is how hoppy it is - huge citrus and lemon peel note up front. Then tarmac, roast and chocolate notes from the malt - seems like a pretty high percentage of hard roasted malts, which seems archetypical for a lot of Danish imperial stouts. A bit of malt complexity of berries, syrup and coffee, but the hops and the hard roast takes the picture. The taste is very bitter at first sip - a lot of hop presence, both citrus and grape taste notes, but also a vast bitterness. Then the sweetness takes over, and malt accentuated at that. Taste notes are chocolate, caramel, amaretto, Kaluha, quite some residual sweetness. In the finish, the more roasted malt notes amplify - tarmac, cold coffee, raw roasty bitterness along with the hoppy bitterness. Body is a bit thin and watery, which is further exposed by the lack of carbonation. More body, less hops, get rid of some of the most roasted malts and you have a very solid stout. But still room for improvement.
Original rating Tap on CBF 2010. Aroma has lots of sweetness and dark fruits, caramel, fudge, liquorice, figs, dates, sweet finnish liquorice. Taste has liquorice, chocolate, coffee, dark fruits, hoppy bitterness, nice balance. (8-3-8-3-16)
