Danish: Er sort som natten. Mørkebrunt skum og noter af lakrids og kaffe. Rund og blød og samtidig meget kompleks. Brygget på Engelsk Marris Otter Malt, karamelmalt, ristet- og umaltet byg, havre, sortmalt, en anelse røgmalt og overgær. Humlen er den engelske East Kent Goldings. Øllet opleves cremet med en blid kulsyre, der giver en rar mundfornemelse. Meget velegnet til krydret mad og chokoladedesserter.

English: Black as the night. Dark brown head and notes of licorice and coffee. A smooth and complex beer at the same time. Brewed using English Marris Otter malt, caramel malt, roasted and unmaltet barley, oatmeal, black malts, a hint of smoked malt and ale yeast. The hops is the English East Kent Goldings. The beer seems creamy because of a soft carbonation which leave pleasant mouthfeel. Very well suited for spicy food and chocolate desserts.

Flaske. Farven er kulsort og skummet er brunt og tæt. Aromaen er brændt malt og alkohol. Smagen er karamel, chokolade, røg, kaffe og tjære. Har en vedholdende brændt eftersmag.

500 ml bottle sampled in 2008, 5,2% ABV. Clear dark amber with a big beige head. Aroma of caramel malt, roast and vanilla. Flavor is sweet, smooth, dark malt, coffee and balanced bitterness. Fine body and good aftertaste. Tasty, nice, balanced and smooth, very nice.

Malziger Geruch, angedeutet rauchig. Malzig-trocken-bitterer Antrunk, hopfig, sehr röstig, fast verbrannt. Dabei wirkt diese Mischung etwas scharf. nach und nach wird das Stout herber und röstmalziger. Sehr trockener malzig-herber Abgang, hier deutlich bitterer als och im Mittelteil. Test vom 17.1.2008, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 11,11,9,12,11,11 - 10,85

Bottled, at Copenhagen Oldage on 20 May 2006 (noted at 6.0%). Good dark colour. Some coffee in the aroma. Bits of roast malt and chocolate on the palate. Like the Brown Ale + sampled just before, this seemed rather over-carbonated Mouthfeel is light and a too bit fizzy for my liking.

Vintage bbf 11.8.2007 kindly gifted to me from faroeviking. Has been kept dark and cellar cold all time. tasted 2-10-2010 pitch dark, smooth light brown head. aroma of chocolate, coffee, faint roasted grains. flavor is chocolate, roasted grains, bitterness, coffee bitterness. mild but full bodied stout with notes of coffee and chocolate and of course roasted grains. towards the end a faint grassy , herbal bitterness that is probably the pretty well aged hops showing themselves. Although 3 years past bbf it has kept very well, and mellowed a lot, appears well blended.

Pours a deep black color with a thick, frothy, light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt. Flavor of roasted malt with a mild tart presence. The body is light with a creamy texture and gentle carbonation. Decent.

50 cl bottle from Bieropholie, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. BB 18.02.2009.

App.: Deep brown with a large tan foam. Aroma: Milky, ashen, lightly fruity, somewhat chocolatey, some hints of caramel, a bit of molasses, some dark chocolate, grape bubblegum, a touch of mash/meatiness. Palate: Medium body, full yet soft effervescence. Flav.: Ashen grape gum, some very light molasses, dark chocolate, that’s about it; dry, a touch tart with low bitterness and a light grape gum finish.
