3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Bov (8158) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - FEB 5, 2006
hazy reddish-amber colour and a fast disappearing foam; aroma of orange and coriander with notes of red fruits (raspberry maybe); full-bodied, sticky and very sweet, no bitterness, sugary and fruity finish with hints of spices and a warming alcohol touch - god but too much on the sweet side

My Bottom Line:
Toasted malts and bready base sweetness accompany the doughy yeast, orange zest and humid, herbal hops in this clean but somewhat unorthodox Belgian-style Strong Ale.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam floats atop the misty copper.
-Subtle alcohol warmth helps the malt flavors, adding a little body.
-Delicate banana esters appear in the nose.
-The flavor profile is balanced, but I cannot say it is compelling.
-Furtive caramel is perceived throughout.
-Although the Belgian-style yeast is obvious, this is not like any classical Tripel I’ve had.
Bottle.

Quite dark for the style. Aroma is orange and lots of sugar! Where is the typical belgian yeasty aroma??? Mouthfeel is great, but the taste.. way to sweet for me! Except for the sweetness, this beer is pretty good.

Bottle. Brew no. 98.
Colour golden with medium white head fast diminishing.
Aroma disappointing malty with only very vague notes of citrus.
Taste malty with well hidden citrus. Alcohol well hidden. I had expected more of this beer, it´s not very complex.

500 ml bottle. Orange/amber colour. Medium-sized white fluffy head. Slightly hazy. Rich malty aroma with strong notes of bitter oranges and coriander. Rich texture with wheaty notes. Some notes of alcohol, but overall this is a nicely balanced beer. Thus I would have liked it better had there been less spices. Belgian yeast character.
