Mike Modano’s 561 Kolsch-style beer is a clean, crisp, yet deceptively complex brew which features a delicate balance between soft malt and a subtle fruity hoppiness. Crafted to commemorate Mike’s record career goals for US-born hockey players, 561 showcases German pilsner malt, noble hops, and a meticulous fermentation regimen. The 561 experience is smooth, crisp and wonderfully refreshing—a lighter beer, without the compromise.

Tap. The look is bubbly, white head, and golden yellow in color. The smell is cold, floral, perfume, grain, and decent. The taste is much the same, grainy sweetness, slight dry bitterness, and ok. Not bad just a littlle bland.

Sampled at the 2014 Untapped festival in Fort Worth. Pours a clear pale gold with a white head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma has notes of earthy musty grain and a bit of buttered popcorn. Flavor has more grain and grass with a hint of biscuit underlying.
