Commercial Description:
Fermented with traditional Belgian barley, yeast and candi sugar we have taken the liberty of adding a generous amount of the finest honey to create the only ale of its kind. Lightly carbonated when bottled or with a thick head and fantastic ’belgian lace’ when poured from the tap. At 8.2% ABV it is similar to a tripel, but paler, drier and lighter bodied due to the honey. The style is often named after the devil and of course we have taken the oportunity to do the same - our version, "Diabhal" or Devil in Irish.

sweet aroma - honey and cereal notes; cloudy, copper body with burnt orange highlight, left with a frothy ring, and lots of tiny bubbles were recreated from every slight move of the glass; very sweet flavor, musty/like foot; almost cloying; okay brew - hoped it would be a lot better, but I love the label.

A ’nice’ BSA. Pours amber with thin white head. Clear. Flavor is Belgian Candi Sugar, Honey and some spicy hop, but not much. Finishes clean. Cool bottle, though.

bottle thanks to the generous bhensonb. poured a hazyish amber with a white head and spotted lace. normally i wouldnt give a beer like this a 4 on appearance, but i liked the way it swirled in my glass. aroma was caramel, grains, berries, honey, and the slightest bit of rubber cement. flavor was grains, caramel, honey, and a little of what seemed to be an alcohol bitter. body was pleasantly medium with around low carbonation. not bad, but not sure if the honey works with this one.

Smells a little bit like liquor and a little bit like licorice. The flavor is thin, a bit boring. Some malt but mostly very little there. Uninteresting.

Sampled on 10/15/2009. This Belgian Strong Ale pours a deep orange gold color from a 50cl flip top bottle. Medium to large sized white foamy head. The aroma is honey, pears and floral honey. A lighter to medium bodied Belgian Strong Ale. The malts are fruity and sweet. Lots of honey and pear flavors. The hops are floral. Decent carbonation. The sweetness from the honey is fairly evident, yet there is some nice malts in the background. Sweet but not cloying. Finish is quite dry for all the sweetness. Hides the alcohol well. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is sweet.

Bottle 50 cl. Hazy golden with a rough, off-white head. Tart, fruity aroma. Medium body, tart and fruity with honey notes. No bitterness. Appears sour and infected. 240709

Now this beer on the other hand... Good ABV, nice carbonation, and the body shines as slightly sweet, slightly estery, but nice and dry. Nice fruity quality. And a good bottle.
