On tap @ Raccoon River. Ruby orange appearance with orangish white head. Slightly sour, red fruity, light wheat nose. Fairly sour red fruity weird flavor. Sloppy strange but not horrible beer.
1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 kitschy (326) - Nebraska, USA - MAY 7, 2009
on draft at Parkville beerfest. Not a good sign when you sip a beer and wonder if you grabbed a bottle of cough syrup by mistake. Weird pinkish amber color, thin palate, and a cough syrup taste.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 beastiefan2k (2079) - Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA - FEB 28, 2009
Tap @ brewpub. Had to have this on Valentine’s Day. Its a reddish, orange, copper color. I can smell the sweet overpowering syrup and it actually comes off more as strawberry than cherry. It would be right on target if there was a category for syrup beer.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 GeneralGao (3614) - Iowa City, Iowa, USA - FEB 13, 2007
Draft at the brew pub. Served with a marachino cherry at the bottom. This didn’t create the best first impression. The beer was a clear orange color with a pinkish tint. Head was fizzy, white, and disappeared quickly. Aroma was of plum, cooked carrot, and oh yeah, some cherry. Not entirely pleasing to the nose, but not exactly offensive either. Tasted predominantly of cherry juice with a dash of cream. Slightly sweet up front, but not cloyingly so. This gradually gave way to a touch of acidity at the end. There was a pleasant fresh cereal grain aftertaste that lingered briefly. So so.
3.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 SledgeJr (3577) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - FEB 28, 2006
On tap at the brewpub during the 2006 Crescent Moon Beer Bus Trip. Pours a cloudy dark gold with a white head. Has a subtle cherry aroma. The amazing thing about this beer is that the flavor is of pie cherries, not marachino candy cherries. Full tart cherry flavor, but not a sour beer. Finish is extremely quick and leaves you with the idea that that tasted like a baked cherry pie.
1.3 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 3/20 Braudog (5025) - Hampton, Virginia, USA - FEB 27, 2005
Definite peach tinge to the hue of this brew, with its thin veil. No aroma whatsoever. And the taste is resoundingly like a cherry Jolly Rancer ... that fake candy cherry crap.
