ALLOVATE (1126), Perth, Australia Feb 14, 2007 There is a fair deal of history behind this beer as well as this brewer, but seeing it on the shelves of liquor stores vying for sales alongside the likes of Crown Lager and Hahn Premium is a sad old sight. Anyway, this pours a pale, dull gold with surmountable, eddying bubbles heaving up a wickedly fluffy, rocky white crown that grew it’s inch and held there to daub a lot of froth in its wake. Wheaty, dry, palest malt nose, with a piercing blend of chives and celery, cracked pepper and spring onion. Smells like a fresh toasted herb bread. Honeyish sweet start in the mouth, tangy on the sides yet mostly dry through the rest and into the swallow. Grainy, dusty, malty base, peppermint edge in back being generously bitter and peppery as it slips passed the tonsils. Quite crisp and very clean for the length. Body is quite light with a pleasantly soft mouthfeel. Easy to drink, and quite a surprise of a brew. Average, though decent, balanced and one that simply does the job!!! Geman lager.A perfect lawn mower brew.Bravo to all Germans who support
their LOCAL brewerys.Worth seeking
in the Dresden area.4.8% is the perfect
alc/vol.If u go higher the beer is too sweet. My cousin always has 5 cases in
the garage in Arnsdorf. Rynoplasty (500), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Feb 2, 2007 Pours golden with a huge foamy head. Aroma is faint but of pale malts. Taste is more malty and seems closer to a helles than a pilsner. Either way decent beer, but doesn’t really stand out in any way. WeeHeavySD (2940), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Jan 14, 2007 Beer 42 Summer 2006 trip in Europe. Drank on 7/6/06 at my hotel’s bar (Fleming’s Hotel Bar) in Frankfurt. Draft inot a .3L glass. Although this is not a fantastic beer it was really nice having it in this instance. It was a rainy night, I was havingthis beer with some chocolate mouse, while listening to some covers on the stereo. Bitter is my overall impression. vanvenlo (794), Glen Iris, Australia Jan 9, 2007 17 April 2006 - Very light hop aroma. Clear yellow colour, reasonable head and suds lacing. Hoppy simple flavour. Thin, bitter hop finish. raymondwave (867), Finland Jan 7, 2007 Updated: Sep 8, 2007Quite dry but not too bitter. I don’t really know what to make of this beer, didn’t really taste like anything while I had it. I may have to try another one to make up my mind. So far not my choice of german pils. Edit: This is better than I first rated, but it’s not the tastiest of pilseners. (Original score 2.3). KingofCastle (202), London, Ontario, Canada Jan 4, 2007 Updated: Mar 9, 2008500 mL can: Typical of many European pilsners at LCBO all indistinguishable from one another. Would I rush out & buy this again? Not likely. Would I turn this down? No, it has its stengths. Typical pils - very light golden colour, quickly vanishing white head. Tastes a little too thin & sour but nice malts really round out the finish, whiich was unexpected. I don’t love pilsners, but this had something good about it. Lilith (242), Santiago, Chile Dec 29, 2006 Clear, bubbling yellow with a large frothy white head. Aroma is sweet and hoppy, some alcoholic presence, a bit astringent smell at the end. Bitter flavor with citrusy notes.
