Draught, for breakfast somewhere dodgy but nice in Hamburg.
Pale golden beer with far too many bubbles for me at that time of the day. Crisp standard pilsner. I little to champagne dry for me on the day.

Pour a clear straw colour with a frothy cap and decent lacing. A grassy nose precedes the doughy, bitter hops flavour consistent through the finish. A good, dry German pils. (500ml can)

Clear golden, medium sized, fluffy, lasting head; bready, malty nose, moderate bitter flavour, thin-bodied; unpleasant bitter-metallic aftertaste; down the drain ! In the old glory days of "DDR" Radeberger was the only brewery to use high-class czech barley and hops: Those were the days.....

The dominating beer of the Saxon region. Ubiquitous for Dresden. So much so that people think the opera house is the Radeberger brewery from adverts on TV. Delicious as a rounds beer.

Canned. Poured out a clear pale straw pilsner with an impressive fluffy white cap that laces the glass well..... very light nose; gentle grassy aromas with diminutive wisps of sweet grains. Starts malty and citrusy then the hop bittering takes over the malt spine ( which is too thin IMHO) and it ends in a dry bitter finish. I can take or leave this one...with more substantially malted, distinctive German beers like Konig, Wernesgruner and Gosser on the LCBO shleves for the same coin why would they offer this marginally premiun beer?

Hay-like aroma. Form hopbitter grassy flavor. Grassy bitter aftertaste. This beer for me is a relic from the former DDR-period, when it took hours to pass the BRD-DDR-border near Eisenach and the DDR-Czech border in the Zinnwald under Dresden. You had to be afraid of Vopo’s, you needed visa just to pass the border and had to buy Ostmarke, but they were virtually worthless. I will never forget the friendliness and hospitality of the East German people just before and after the Wende. This firm and tasty Radeberger pilsener is a way to remember those days.

Can, I’ve had this one sitting in my closet for at least 8 months now. Date code on the bottom says 04/05/05. Poured a clear yellow with a surprisingly creamy looking white head. Too bad it faded fairly quickly, but this beer looked the part anyway. Also a surprisingly fresh straw like nose. Taste brings it back down to earth - metallic (as expected) and a little too watery; but also slightly bitter and refreshing. A surprise for sure, I bought this on a LCBO crap o’ euro lager ratings binge a while ago and this has turned out to be the best of the bunch. I thought it was a Pilsner and not a premium lager, but I’ll let the style police tackle that one.
