Bottle. Pale golden golden. Aroma and taste like most other german pilsners: hops, yeast, malt and water.. I sure like the big white head and the well balanced carbonation. Very fresh finish.

Drank in a futted pilsner. Classic golden poor with no effervescence... Huge frothy white head. Aromas are metallic, orange and lemon zest, corn, honey and nicely peppered. Very dry mouthfeel and full bodied hoppy finish. Very fresh. Metallic flavors. Long lasting bitterness from the hops again.

Bottle. I don’t know what it is about this beer but whether I get it here or in germany it is always skunked. No worries, I don’t know if it’s much to write home about anyway.

Pale yellow with an off white head. Sour hop metal taste and aroma. Rather fresh but again metallic & watery. Clear malty & hoppy appearences - pale malts - straw/hay.! Very regular German pilsner but little disappointed!

Tasted 13/03/2007. 330mlb bottle from Rumble’s Wellington. Pours a very pale gold, bright, with a fading white head. Mild nose - a mixture of slightly stale grainy malt, spicy herbal hops and a soft creamed honey. Dry in the mouth, though with a decent weight. Grainy malt notes give way to a strong herbal bitterness, a little steely, with spicy edges that hint of rocket. Quite bitter in the finish and lingering on quite a while. More honey notes come through late, with further herbal hints - slightly floral this time. A little tired but decently bitter at least. Not at it’s best, admittedly, but I doubt this would make many top ten pilsner lists, in a blind tasting, even on it’s best day.

Clean crisp hoppy and unfortunately the best pilsner we can get in Western Canada.Page 377 of Michael Jackson’s Great Beer Guide and the first I had I bought on public transportation in Germany. Only 282 of his Classic 500 Brews to go and I might have one in my hand now. Opinions of two beer geeks I respect just because every beer geek can tell you all about the yelllow bubblys. A bit watery in the finish. Not bad, but considering that it is often spoken of in the same terms as Jever, Bitburger and Wernesgruner, well, it isn’t on the same terms as those beers. presario (1644), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Date: 12/7/2002 Updated: Sep 1, 2006 3.5 Aroma Appearance Flavor Palate Overall 7/10 4/5 7/10 3/5 14/20 Crisp. Clean. Nice starting head. Definate hop taste. A little sweetness. A decent Pilsener and a solid beer. An extra appearance point for the cool 4oz stein. Victory Pils is still number one give me the hops.

Pale golden yellow, medium head no retention. Weak aroma (malt, hops). Flavor is a unique blend of malt and hops, very noticeable and I wonder if it is the brewing process that makes a difference here. Lager or Pilsner? Definitely pilsner. Has a subdued silken sweetness at work yet the finish is very dry. Good brew!

Bottle. Yellow colour. Big fluffy average lasting head. Aroma of malts, and hops with a touch of some fruitiness. Flavour of hops, some maltiness with a nice crispy dry finish. Good average lasting dry hoppy aftertaste. The East German Goverment put a lot of money in to this brewery keeping as an export brewery to show the rest of the world the great GDR (DDR) beer. And the positive things is that the beer still is great.

Malty nose, but almost smelled a bit like freezer burn. Pale golden with a nice creamy head. Full bodied with notes of malts in the front and hops on the finish. Fairly skunky, mild bitter finish.
