Rader Ambrée is the subtle aromatization of a beer brewed in the ancient-way, re-fermented in its bottle, with a distillate of grain which has undergone a prolonged ageing process in oak casks. The primary fermentation is made with the same selected grains for the mash tubbing and the distillate. The distillate, aged in oak casks, is then added to the mash tub just before the re-fermentation in the bottle.

(33cl bottle) Pours a massive, rocky, almond head and highly active, cloudy, pale yellow body. Nose of spiced citrus and alcohol. Initial spike of citrus leans into a smooth warming of oily malt. Very nice. Above average.

UPDATED: SEP 16, 2003 Nice golden blonde robe with shy white head. Powerful malty aroma in which alcohol is noticeable. The taste is sweet before anything, very fruity, subtle tartness, with a bitter end. I found it robust for sure, but well balanced and not as agressive as others propose. Overall very tasty with a lot of character.

A violent beer. Like being beaten up by some punkers in a dark night in November 1984. Pretty alcoholic and strong!

Beer gushes out of the bottle. Huge head. Only slight juniper aroma, the malt dominates.mSweet, malty flavor with juniper berries and genever, slightly artificial. This beer is much more balanced as the Rader Blonde, although the alcohol dominates.

Had this at Le Bier Circus on 5-13-03. Nice golden blonde. Strong alcohol aroma along with malt. Taste expands on that with a stronger malt, alcohol, and slightly whisky-ish presence. Maybe peach as well. Supposedly this has gin added to it at some point and there is that dryness from gin in this beer, especially during the finish. Has a nice whitish head and decent carbonation.

UPDATED: APR 1, 2004 Cloudy light amber coloured beer. Slightly sweet and a tiny bit sour aroma. A friend of mine said she could smell the 'jenever' which destillate is supposed to be added to the beer. I could not really say I did but it had an interesting aroma. The taste was refreshing, a bit sweet, slightly sour and a bit thick. The alcohol is obvious but not disturbing. It is a good beer.

Dull muddy apple pie with cloves. Left over alcohol. I’m sure the puss faced brewer’s boy did more than spit in this concotion. Maybe P-tor44 spat this out after drinking his Stag.

Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly lasting. Body is hazy medium yellow, dense tiny and small particles, bottle conditioned. Aroma is moderately yeasty (cobwebs, earth), moderately malty (cookie), lightly hoppy (flowers, herbs), with notes of alcohol, pear, honey, and clove. Flavor is heavily sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium to full body, creamy and syrupy texture, lively carbonation, moderately alcoholic. It’s quite sweet, and the alcohol is a bit too striking, but it’s actually quite pleasant for such a strong beer. Improves as it warms.

UPDATED: NOV 20, 2004 Bready, yeasty bite and doughy simplicity...Luscious, creamy body with lots of lacing...A little bitterness in the back, peppery honey daydreams and a weak aftertaste...

Deep golden colour, creamy head. The bottle contains a fair bit of yeast sediment. Fruity, peppery aroma. Very sweet and malty. Tastes of dried fruit and has a hint of cask character.
