dlihcsnatas (45), Texas, USA May 6, 2008 Smelled the roasted barley and some hints of chocolate when I opened it. Poured a nice dark brown but with not much head on it. The taste was roasty with a hint of chocolate but did seam a bit wimpy or watery with no kick. It advertises to be a regular brew but after about 10 of them I would expect a little something. I could drink these all day and don’t think I would even get a slight buzz.
xShanex (19), Mansfield, Texas, USA Jul 16, 2008 Pours dark, black almost with a carmal head. Smells of smoke. I do admit that it is a bit watery. Tastes of wood and smoke were not too appealing. Could not finish the glass. Have another? No thanks... Sparky27 (495), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Jul 9, 2008 Bottle courtesy of Bockhorsey. Pours a deep dark black with hardly any light getting through. Creamy tan head with spotty lacing. Nose is roasted coffee, cocoa and some smoke. Tastes a lot like it smells with a mild hop finish. Tastes like a milder version of Moonlit Sessions from Port Brewing. Mouth feel is on the watery side. Good brew and an easy drinker. Thanks Bill! GAManiac (262), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jul 6, 2008 Bottle courtesy of ericandersnavy. Pours dark, dark brown with mahogany tones when held up to the light. Even with an aggressive pour, there is little head and no lacing. The smell is of toasted malts with a hint of coffee and cocoa in there as well. The initial taste was a little bizarre - very biting and almost minty. There is also the sweet roasted malt backbone, but it’s masked by the opening astringency. The mouthfeel is fairly light with decent carbonation. The astringency takes away from the drinkability a little bit and this is below average as far as scharzbiers go. Bockyhorsey (1951), Mesa, Arizona, USA Jul 1, 2008 12oz bottle. Decent roasted coffee aroma. Black body with tan head. Medium sweet caramel to flavor but the carbination cola present takes away the roasty flavors. If this had more body to flavor it would be a real good one. Beerlando (1235), Orlando, Florida, USA Jun 30, 2008 Pours a dark but translucent chestnut brown color with a small, fleeting, cream colored head. Minimal spotting marks the glass. Aromas include watered down coffee, dry cocoa, faint woodsy notes, and traces of earthy hops. Flavors are weak and muddled, with diluted, roasted coffee and chocolate notes showing alongside wimpy earthy hops. Balanced, sure, but just lacking in substance across the board. Thin, watery mouthfeel with low carbonation. This simply isn’t good at all.
