2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Nice dark copper color. Weak head and lacing on the glass. Slight malty aroma. Average mouth feel. Not over powering. Average beer from an average beer company.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft in the DFW airport. Looks great -- dark bronzed color with a firm top. The aroma is unexpectedly laden with some kind of spice. This does drink like some kind of fall beer, caramel malt of an alt, but with some added kick of ... I canít ID it, but maybe a tangy woodiness. (#5235, 8/30/2013)

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Location: Draft at Ginger Man (Houston), 8/20/13
Aroma: The aroma hass caramel malts, some dark fruit, bread, and nutty notes
Appearance: The pour is dark red color with a sheet of beige head and some sticky lace
Flavor: The taste is malty, with some good caramel, light-medium sweet, and mild bitterness
Palate: It has a creamy feel, is medium bodied, with a soft carbonation, and a mild dry finish
This one is a solid beer for sure. The malt flavors all work nicely together, and it feels well-rounded.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a dark amber, almost a cola brown, with a thick and fine-bubbled light tan head. Strong aroma has a malty core with a note of caramel an a hint of cloves. Pleasing flavor satisfies with malty, caramel and cloves notes. Firm, smooth texture leaves a subtle tingle. A gravel road? Not rough at all, just pleasing.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle:   Deep amber, brownish hued, large frothy sandy head, nice lacing.   Soft grains, whole wheat bread, and nuts on the nose.   Sweet graininess up front.   A little nutty on the backside.   Seems a bit
more flavorful than other examples.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate to full. &nbps Nice malty background, soft sweetness, grains, bread, and nuts linger.   Slight tartness after the finish.   Fiarly enjoyable given that I
am not a big Alt fan.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pint glass at brewery tour. I trying to record this by memory - German style altbier has a slight haze to light goldish amber color. Lacing but low head retention. It was pretty good but some of the Rahr beers have a heavier then regular beers bittering end to it. I didnít mind it. Carmel nutty flavor, although light, with some hop aromas. Rahr is a great place to sit back, have a few, listen to some music, & maybe check out the brewery tour.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
From notes, 9/10/11:
Poured from a 12oz bottle into a stange.
A: Hazy dark brown with ruby highlights. Not much carbonation visible. Thin head dissipates quickly leaving no lacing.
S: Slight roasted malts, grassy hops.
T: Great balance of grassy hops and caramel/toffee malts. Both represented well in aftertaste.
M: Medium and a bit slick and creamy.
O: Great representation of the style as the hops and malts are very well balanced, itís easy to drink, and the subtle flavors donít overpower one another.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On draught at the Draught House brewpub. The beer pours brown with a medium rocky beige head that dissipates steadily. Small patches of lacing. The aroma consists of caramel, bread and hops. Medium-bodied with flavors of earthy hops, caramel malt and a bit of ripe fruit. The finish is sweet with a toasty malt aftertaste. Decent all around.
