3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 sjohnny (257) - - APR 2, 2013
Sweet malty aroma with scents of molasses and prunes. Pours a very dark almost black amber with a thick light tan head. Sweet dark fruits. Medium bodied. Very smooth and sweet with just a hint of crisp earthy bitterness on the finish. Well balanced. Very nice drinking beer.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 DocJitsu (306) - California, USA - MAR 30, 2013
Pours a clear dark amber color with a 1/2 inch taupe colored head. Nice aroma of milk chocolate liqueur. The moutfheel is not adequate for the style. Not watery, but not all the way creamy either. The flavors are nice. A lot of chocolate and some Christmas pull candy. I really enjoy this beer. Not true to style, but good nonetheless.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 ansermadide (1198) - Kyle, Texas, USA - MAR 13, 2013
This is a great-looking beer. With a deep, dark brown color and a light brown head that leaves behind some really sexy lacing, it looks thick, with carbonation forming on the sides of the glass, rising slowly to the surface with every movement. It smells malty, but not roasted, not sweet, and not dry - more slightly smoky, reminiscent but not strong of peat. It’s really neat on the palate, with a cool, chocolate-like spiciness with a touch of smoke that persists into the finish. Again, it’s not sweet, but the peatiness spices things up really well and keeps it from feeling too cloying. This is a beer that’s full, but light-palated and offers a body that’s supple, but doesn’t muddy up your taste buds. All-around, it’s a modest, but well-brewed and well-balanced Scotch Ale that’s smooth, easy to drink, and flavorful.

This is an awesome beer. Tastes very sweet, almost like there’s aspartame in it. Not bitter.

Poured up a very dark brown with little head. Smells of chocolate malts. Tastes very thick with chocolate malts and a hint of caramel and hops. This is the first brew from Rahr & Sons that I will be buying again and again.

12 oz bottle compliments of Crajun. Dark ruby red pour (into the closest thing that I had to a "thistle"), a tall tulip. This beer is dark & barely allows any light to pass through. Sweet bready malt aroma, some candied yams, burnt sugar. Delicious and syrupy sweet on the taste buds, faintest bit of hops on the finish. Low carbonation give this a medium body and excellent mouthfeel. 8.5% abv very nicely hidden! A well put together brew!
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 ozarkspops (199) - - FEB 17, 2013
Dark brown and medium head. Malty sweetness. Dark fruit and little to no hop aroma. Dark fruit flavor as well. Still no hops. Lots of caramel and mid malt characteristics.
