Pours dark brown with a creamy tan head. Caramel malt and peat smoke with a surprisingly light finish. Conveniently shows up every year around my birthday.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a rich three centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, prunes, raisins and pit fruits with a lot of earth. Medium-bodied; Assertive alcohol and bourbon flavours up front with a definite earthy and rich malty flavour coupled with loads of caramel, toffee and pit fruit sweetness right behind. Aftertaste shows a lot of complexity with some honey notes, bits of smoke and toastiness and a lot of pit fruits coupled with earth. Overall, a nice very rich beer with a good profile and an even better depth. I sampled this pint on draught here at the Hilton Austin Airport for US$7.00 on 06-May-2014.

Bottle thanks to Rightcross55. Pours very dark ruby red with a small foamy head that fades to a thin ring. Aroma is thick caramel candy and dark fruit mixed with some light chocolate and peat smoke. Taste only slight sweet with a dry finish. Caramel and dark fruit mostly and a very light smokiness in the finish. Medium body with a nice chewy mouthfeel. Solid scotch ale. Nice and smooth.

Draft - Caramel and light grains. Dark clear amber with a beige head. Light and sweet whiskey notes, with grains and a bit of sweet caramel. Nice and spot on for style.

On draught at Ginger Man Dallas. Dark ruby-brown color with a medium foamy light beige head that recedes gradually. Dark fruit, malt and hops in the nose. Medium body and slightly chewy with flavors of caramel malt, dark fruit and earthy hops. The finish is subtly smoky with a malt and fruit aftertaste. Decent overall.

Very nutty and roasted malt taste with caramel notes. Medium bitterness. The palate lacks thickness, slightly watery mouthfeel. Dry, burnt, bready aftertaste. Great scotch ale with great roasted malt notes. ---Rated via Beer Buddy

This is a dark beer with creamy tan head. Malty aroma with hints of chocolate and dark fruits. The body seems thin for the style. Finish is bitter but the overall sweetness makes this hard to drink a second in one sitting.

Decent scotch ale. Mild sweet malty aroma. Dark brown color with an average head. Lighter palate than most of this style and higher carbonation. Blend of sweet malt with raisin and molasses flavors with a slight smokiness. I also noticed a hops bitterness on the finish. Good effort.
