Some graininess similar to the Buried Hatchet. Nice malt character. Peat. Pretty standard scotch ale, maybe lacking a little on caramel sweetness (not that that is a fault by any means). Enough hop bitterness to balance it well. I think/want to believe that this smells like a thistle does. Finish has an excellent grainyness.

Texas goes to Iowa 2010, Thanks Sam. This beer pours with a deep reddish brown color and had a bit of an espresso swirl head on it. The aroma was fruity and floral with plenty of peat, raw coco, and a little vegetal thing sneaking around in the background. The flavor had nice cherry tones with some peaty maltiness.

Another Texas brew. Pours a cloudy brown almost black color with a medium off-white head. A light nose of fruity dusty malts. Nice lacing. The flavor is purple (thatís how I see it) sweet rich earthy malts, fruity, and sort of dry and dusty. Nice. Very light and easygoing.
