Brewery tour in pint glass. Wonderful aroma and flavor of sweet German malts. Hop flavors are low and more malt aromas then hops. Good smooth palate to the finish. Above average overall.

On tap. Glass mug. 84 degrees on a Texas patio. Nutty and easy to drink. Zero head retention. Very thin and lacking. If drank a few of these I’d still be sober and my palate would be damaged for the rest of the evening.

Clear reddish brown pour with a thin cream head. Nice toasty nutty aroma with some caramel. Taste is bread, nuts, caramel, but it has a burnt quality to it.

Bottle. Pours a clear copper with a small frothy off white head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is breqdy malt and raisin. Thin mouthfeel with a bitter raisin and dry finish. A decent marzen from Rahr.

Bottle:   Reddish caramel, moderate frothy off-white head, fairly nice lacing.   Odd basement and aged/musty floorboard like aroma.   Hmmm... Certainly malty and a bit meaty.   Feels somewhat heavy, er full bodied, but seems rather bland.   Smidgen of that aged/musty floorboard.   Reminds me of an old wood floored gym/stage with huge amounts of dust on it.   As it warms I get a bit of earth/soil to it.   Its funny, the flavors in this aren’t that strong, so its not pungent.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Decent malt base, but some odd duck flavors in this one.   Kinda think I am tasting an old couch or something.   Thanks for the bottle Bill!

On tap @ the Mucky Duck. Not bad but odd for an Oktoberfest. Lots of malt with hints of grass and grains.

12 oz. bottle courtesy of a trade with crajun. Pours a clear amber with a thin-moderate off-white head that completely disappears after the first sip and left no lace. The aroma really struck me as unusual, especially for an octoberfest beer; malted milk balls. I gave my glass to my wife and asked her what she thought of the aroma without telling her my opinion and after thinking for a few seconds, she said, "It reminds me of malted milk balls." Unusual, but I liked it. The flavor has a bit of the malted milk balls in it, but is more influenced by malt and caramel. Mild bitterness at the finish. A bit fizzy on the palate would be my only complaint, otherwise, no problems.
