2.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Really nice fruit, toffee, whiskey aroma. Pours very dark almost black with a dark tan head that fades quickly. Oak, dark fruit, molasses, vanilla. The flavors are really nice but it has a little harshness on the finish and itís lighter bodied than I would have thought from the aroma. Kind of thin. Overall a good beer that might be better with a little time on it.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sampled on tap @ the Fort Worth Gingerman Tate of Texas. Red tinted dark pour with a slight head. Heavenly sweet vanilla and oak nose. Bourbon comes through as well. Medium bodied mouthfell with moderate carbonation. Flavor is just divine! Huge bourbon and oak. Finshes dry enough to keep it from being cloying. Far and away the best Rahr beer to date.

Pretty, inviting nose; lush, whiskey-tinged chocolate & fruit, oak, espresso, cola, raisins. Creamy, sweet but balanced, good mouthfeel, very tasty, interestingly effervescent on the finish, lingers, good depth of flavor. Quite good.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
650 ml bottle from trade with TJ. Poured into a snifter. Beautiful brown reddish hue. Little to no head. Amazing scent of bourbon and raisins. Nice medium mouthfeel. Lots of dark fruit and bourbon on the front slowly melts into a creamy buttery finish. Very well balanced. Taste of bourbon throughout, but not the least bit boozy! Completely delicious!

Bottle. Dark brown with creamy tan head. Nice lacing. Aroma is chocolate, dark cherries, alcohol, bourbon and prunes with a hint of sweetness. Flavor is bourbon, vanilla, cocoa and coconut with slight alcohol on the nose. Leaves a warm feeling in the belly. :) Best Rahr Iíve had.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
i only got a small sample at a Christmas party. Nice malty aroma, dark dark beer with creamy brown head, good head retention, thick malty tastes, didnít notice the bourbon or oak flavors I was looking for, nice on the palate, a good sipping beer. Overall a great effort by the brewery to go the extra mile to bring something different to their fans.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours like.. coke. seriously, this thing has large bubbles and looks like coca cola, except with less head.
smells like a vanilla, chocolate, oakey, with a hint of bourbon. Honestly, if you put this under my nose and I was blindfolded, I wouldnít think it was a beer. probably something out of a gourmet chocolatier or something.
taste is actually pretty damn good. to say I am shocked is an understatement. A lot of smooth oak vanilla, some chocolate, and a tiny bit of bourbon. this is quite amazing from Rahr.
mouthfeel is spot on for what it needs to be, I think if it was thicker it wouldnít be as good, and I like the thick ass stouts. but a nice medium body has this covered.
overall this is quite amazing. I am absolutely shocked. Rahr is known for mediocrity, and this is far far from it. I look forward to some other things they may put out at this kind of quality. Cheers Rahr, and congrats!

On keg. 6 months old.
Dark brown pour, head dies down and leaves nice lacing.
Lots of whiskey in the nose and dried fruits.
Taste is fruitcake with definite whiskey. Nice and oaky but far from overpowering. As fits the name, the booziness warms, rather than burns.
