COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We take recently emptied barrels and refill them with our Winter Warmer English-Style Dark Ale. We then age this majestic ale for 10 weeks, resulting in a skillfully balanced, ambitious blend of dark malts and English hops, complimented by dark fruit, raisin and vanilla characteristics. The oak is very apparent, adding additional depth and complexity - yielding an ale that is large in personality. So raise a glass of holiday cheer!

Sampled on tap @ the Fort Worth Gingerman Tate of Texas. Red tinted dark pour with a slight head. Heavenly sweet vanilla and oak nose. Bourbon comes through as well. Medium bodied mouthfell with moderate carbonation. Flavor is just divine! Huge bourbon and oak. Finshes dry enough to keep it from being cloying. Far and away the best Rahr beer to date.

Bottle shared during AZRBWG. Pour is brown with an off-white head. Aroma shows notes of toffee, bourbon, nuts, cocoa and a hint of peat smoke. Flavor shows the same with additional notes of roasted malt, brown sugar, and coffee. Overall body is moderate and finishes with a light to moderate earthy bitterness.

Pretty, inviting nose; lush, whiskey-tinged chocolate & fruit, oak, espresso, cola, raisins. Creamy, sweet but balanced, good mouthfeel, very tasty, interestingly effervescent on the finish, lingers, good depth of flavor. Quite good.

(Hand bottle, courtesy of mar) Pours a dark brown body with a small beige head. Aroma of wood, bourbon, light smoke/peat, and vanilla. Flavor of toasted marshmallow, vanilla extract, caramel, nuts, and cocoa with a somewhat dry oak finish.

Rahr should really consider doing more of these types of beers. German yeast alone does not do it for today’s American craft beer drinkers.

Thanks to cavie for sending down this hand bottled beer. Pors a dark brown with little head. Nose of chocolate, soft bourbon, sugar and wood. Flavor is the same, but with coffee and toffee notes. Good mouthfeel and warming finish. Thanks Travis, much appreciated.
