3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
bottled as Buffalo Butt-Im going against the grain on this one-this is a fine example of this very under looked style that im saying is one of the better versions brewed in this country. pours dark copper with a small off-white soapy head. nose of caramel malt qualities (sweet, lite husky notes), lite lager yeast twang and some faint spicy hops. flavors exhibit the earthy, grainy amber malt qualities. this malt profile in this beer is very clean and spot on. THe only other example from an amercian brewery that would be as good as this is the vienna from Great lakes. other than that, this is definately a winner for this style.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle pours pale amber orange with a finger of foam. Smells of bready malt and sweet toffee and caramel are smooth. The taste is nice and malty but not as sweet as the aroma with a herbal hop spice that work nicely in the finish. It is a smooth a slightly creamy beer that goes down real easy when cold and it is not hurt much by warmth. Enjoyable on a cool fall evening.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz. bottle courtesy of a trade with crajun. Pours a clear amber with a moderate tan head that lasted through the first quarter of the glass and laced the glass well. Mild aroma of caramel and malt. The flavor is similar with mild caramel and malt, lightly sweet. A bit spritzy on the palate. Mild bitterness at the finish.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
A lovely dark maroon brew that sports a fairly hearty head, which dissipates a bit too quickly for my preference. Lively scents and flavors of caramel, malt, toast, and toffee; and a slight reminiscent hint of warm flaky biscuits (yeah… Hungry Jack style). Not too hoppy … not too sweet. Good carbonation makes for a light, refreshing mouth-feel.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
[Bottle] Pours a light amber color with a thin white cap of head. Sweet toffee, bread and caramel in the aroma. The taste is very similar. Mild hazelnut and grassy hops round out the sweet malty backbone. Prickly carbonation. Nothing majorly wrong with this one. Not very exciting, but at least it’s better than their Bock I just had.
