3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pint on draft during a brewery tour. Clean clear red brew that has pretty good brown head retention that was not overly thick. No aroma hops but some maltly aroma’s like a Vienna should. Not a heavy malty taste, some carmal, no hop flavors but a bitterness dry bite on the palate at the end - in a good way, it was just right any more bitterness would be too much though.

Bottle. Pours dark reddish amber. Not much going on here, slight malts and hint of bitter hops. Pretty uneventful.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Labeled as Buffalo Butt. Dark amber, good head. What aroma there is, is malt and not much hops. The taste is beer - a nutty and toasty malt taste with just enough hops to get a bit of bitterness. Finish is some sweetness and bitterness.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Ratebeer! Tell me how my bottle looks different and has a completely different name then the one I am forced to use as a rating. Nose is malty and sweet alongside with the taste then ends abruptly and fades in to some light sourness or an extreme dryness that is confusing. Bottle thank to Artitudebrew!

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Available in bottles at The Backyard Grill, I had to look up the term “Vienna lager” to find out what the heck was up. According to Wikipedia, the Brewers Association describes this style of beer “as a reddish brown or copper colored beer with medium body and slight malt sweetness.” By this definition, Rahr’s Red is a good beer and I know the brewery just delivered a fresh batch to TBG – but I cannot love it. It’s a true reddish amber color; but with a thin body (to me) and only very modest malt flavor to it. The taste did not wear well throughout the 12-ounce bottle.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 oz bottle at Cowboy Chow in Roanoke TX - labeled at "Buffalo Butt". Pours a clear copper-reddish color with a thin head. Mouthfeel is smooth. Taste of caramel malts, toasted bread, and earthiness along with some grassy hops. Mild sweetness, a hint of sourness and a moderate bitterness. Nicely balanced.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
On tap at the Brick Store.
Arrives in a gorgeous Bell’s tulip. Deep murky amber brown with a thick beige head with a rocky bottom fed by bubbles constantly. Lacing and retention are fantastic.
Aroma is sour with lactic and tart fruits - cherries for sure. Plenty of brown sugar in the nose and some Brett and spicy oak.
Whoa, the taste is seriously dry and funky up front. Some tart cherries and brown sugar follow behind. Lots of oak and dry earthy funk in the finish with a hint of lactic as well.
Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied and seriously dry and tart on the palette. Solid carbonation to liven it up.
Really impressed with this one. After the Oarsman disappointed I wasn’t sure what to expect but this is a great sour from Bell’s.

2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
12 oz bottle from Ben. Murky red pour with little head that quickly fades away. I’m really not getting any noticeable aroma from this beer... very odd. Flavor is much the same way, I’m not picking up anything I can identify and what little I notice is immediately swept away by a very dry finish. Not a bad beer, just not much of one.
