3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
2011/2012 Vintage: This smooth, earthy imperial stout is dark brown in color, just shy of black. Its aroma is sweet and spicy, dark and malty, much like a strong sweet stout. This probably won’t age well, but I’ll hold on to a couple bottles for a few years just to see what happens. It’s a good, easy, and smooth imperial stout, and lets on nothing at all to make you think it’s a 10% ABV Imperial Stout. It finishes just as smooth as it drink, with an almost candy-like finish. An easy drinker, and well-suited for a winter seasonal.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle: Nearly black, moderate to large foamy beige head, nice lacing. Faint cocoa and roasted malt nose, almost seems to have a tart dark pitted fruit. Rich maltiness, faint roastiness and cocoa, but moreso this faint tart dark pitted fruit flavor. Not a hoppy example, the 10% ABV is well hidden. This one is a soft cocoa, soft roasty, and tart dark pitted fruit example. Moderate to full body and mouthfeel. Lingering tart stout, dark pitted fruit, cocoa, and soft roastiness. Very easy to put back, and I imagine that having this well after it was bottled that it was much better months ago. Thanks for the bottle Bill!

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Pour out of 22 oz bottle, 2010 version. Dark black, no light through, nice creamy tan head, laced pretty well. Mineral water, chemicals, slight biscuit, toffee, slight dark fruit, hints of caramel. Taste is a mix of nice chocolate and roast, mineral notes, hints of slight chemicals, finishing fairly dry. Yuck.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle @ Armin’s house. Thanks Armin! 2010 vintage. Black appearance with a small brown head. A touch smoky, a bit fruity, lightly roasty aroma. Dark plum fruity, a light floral, light chocolate, light roasty flavor with a slightly tangy finish. Maybe they improved since this vintage but this is pretty forgettable.

A big beer that tastes excellent. I get some chocolate notes that this seem more like an imperial brown ale.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark, luscious aroma with notes of chocolate, big roasted malts, and caramel. It pours a solid black with a nice, dark head. Firm palate with a medium-to-thick mouthfeel and adequate carbonation. The taste is mainly bitter from the roasted malts, with sweetness provided by notes of molasses and subtle chocolate. There was a suggestion of soy sauce as well.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours black with tan head. Aroma of dark roasted grain and coffee. Flavor is very nice, dark roast, coffee, malty and a nice dark roasted bitterness. Heavy body with medium-high carbonation. Very tasty brew!
