Tap at the brewery anniversary party. I tried the 2014 and 2013 versions. The newer version was much more bright and effervescent while the aged one was more mellow and balanced. Lots of fruity notes and mint on the nose with the fresh version. Flavor is also fruity and sweet with a tingly feeling over the palate.

Dark and sticky. Smells and tastes kind of like a Tortuga rum cake. I think. I mean, itís been a while since Iíve actually had a Tortuga rum cake but thatís what this brings to mind.

Rich caramel color. Dark with a thin head. Toffee aroma. Startz smooth, mellow and caramely. Ends with a little more bite. Moderate, spooky lacing. Really smooth for a barley wine. Voluminous and refreshingly dangerous!

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark cola pour with a thin cream colored head. Sweet cola and caramel aroma with a little bread. Taste is molasses, earthy hops, caramel, and a bit of soy. Pretty sweet. Sticky texture. Not bad overall, but the hint of soy keeps it from being really good.
