Dark brown with light beige head. Aroma is of dark fruit, but a little pungent. Taste is sweet with a little bit of an astringent finish. Was hoping for better. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at the brewery anniversary party. I tried the 2014 and 2013 versions. The newer version was much more bright and effervescent while the aged one was more mellow and balanced. Lots of fruity notes and mint on the nose with the fresh version. Flavor is also fruity and sweet with a tingly feeling over the palate.

Dark and sticky. Smells and tastes kind of like a Tortuga rum cake. I think. I mean, it’s been a while since I’ve actually had a Tortuga rum cake but that’s what this brings to mind.

Pours a deep brown/copper with a short tan head. It has an earthy hop and sweet malt aroma. The flavor is earthy hops with a sticky malt backbone and a sweet, slightly hoppy finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

>> Clear, deep red pour. Low yellow foam. Nose is maple, salt, brown sugar, worchestershire. Taste is nutty, dark bread, dark bread crust, bitter, not too sweet. Somewhat hoppy. Not bad.

Rich caramel color. Dark with a thin head. Toffee aroma. Startz smooth, mellow and caramely. Ends with a little more bite. Moderate, spooky lacing. Really smooth for a barley wine. Voluminous and refreshingly dangerous!

jhamp9 (1164) - Corinth, Texas, USA - MAR 7, 2014
Dark cola pour with a thin cream colored head. Sweet cola and caramel aroma with a little bread. Taste is molasses, earthy hops, caramel, and a bit of soy. Pretty sweet. Sticky texture. Not bad overall, but the hint of soy keeps it from being really good.

Pours dark ruby with a large tan head. Smells of caramel and dark fruit. Taste is bitter, fruity, and sweet caramel. Full-bodied with a smooth texture and soft mouth-carbonation, Rahr & Sons Tenderfoot finishes with a lingering bitterness.
