Warm up the long, cold nights of winter with Rahr’s latest seasonal offering. Wonderfully robust, rich and full-bodied, Rahr’s Winter Warmer is crated in the fine British tradition of holiday ales. Perfect for either holiday gatherings or quiet evenings at home.

UPDATED: NOV 24, 2010 Re-Rate. Pours a deep murky brown with light tan head. Aroma of toasted malt, a bit nutty, light signs of dark fruit. Flavor is very much the same with a nice mellow alcohol spiciness. Mouth feel is medium-heavy body and just a tad watery, with medium carbonation. Overall, this is a pretty nice, well balanced brew!

Pours a dark ruby color with a very small tan head. Aroma is malty with some caramel. Flavor is rich of roasted chocolate and caramel, with a hint of the 8% alcohol. One of my favorite Rahr brews, as good, if not better than the Oktoberfest. 12 oz. bottle.

Bottle, courtesy of bu11zeye. Pours a clear brown color with burgundy highlights and a medium, beige color. Aroma of caramel and chocolate with mild alcohol. The flavor has a rich presence of malt with nuts, caramel and chocolate. It’s sweet but just enough. The body is medium with a liquorous texture and gentle carbonation. A pleasant beer to sip on a cold october evening.

This one reminds me alot of the Trader Joe’s Winter beer. Light in color, body and mouthfeel with not a whole lot going on. Would’ve liked to have seen alot more body and spice character. With the previous in mind, this still does exhibit some decent malt character with notes of caramel, dates and candied fruit.

Pours a nice ruby red color. The second one with a really nice color tonight. Almost no head. This reminds me more of a scotch ale. Malt, yeast, bread, wheat aromas. Smooth with a slightly unpleasant metallic taste on the finish. Can’t make out many more distinguishing characteristics in the flavors. Full bodied. Slight cola, caramel flavors towards the end.

Dark brown, white creamy head. Nose held soft notes of toasted toffee and dark fruits, with lesser notes of spiced roasted marsmallow. Dark fruity malt flavors and hints of coffee and caramel lead the way from start to finish. Jjust a touch of balanced hop bitterness in the end, but the malt still wins out. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, malty finish. Nicely done...

Bottle courtesy of Cornfield. Thanks Carl!. Nice sweet aroma that portends of good things to come. Hint of high alcohol, in the nose but it is mostly hidden. Mostly opaque, very dark reddish brown with a thin off white ring. Not much lace. There wasn’t much of a sound when I popped the cap, so I was leary of flatness. However, if I wasn’t thinking that I wouldn’t have noticed that it may be a little less carbonated than average. Nice, fairly well balanced flavor. Not much in the way of hops but the roasted malts and higher alcohol work well. A tasty brew. Not spectacular but no glaring flaws.
