Bottle. Pours a clear amber with a small frothy beige head leaving sticky lacing along the glass. The aroma is a bready malt with caramel and roast. Thin mouthfeel with a rich malt and chocolate with a bready finish. Easy to drink hiding the alcohol well. A good English strong ale from Rahr.

This beer look like a beer should when you pour it in a beer glass. Its 80% opaque brown malt colored with a 1 inch beige head that settles to a 1/8" faster than id prefer. The aroma is clean and has notes of spring water and clove. The flavor is heavy with heavily toasted, roasted, almost burnt malt, and clove. Appeal is smooth and easy. Lacing is light on the glass. Finish is spicy and malty. Tastes good when its 68 in your house and 105 outside.

22 oz. bottle courtesy of a trade with crajun. Pours dark brown with a thin-moderate tan head that lasted through the first quarter of the glass and left partial lace. Pleasant aroma of lightly roasted malt, caramel, and some bourbon vapors. The flavor is a bit sweet with malt, caramel, a bit of vanilla, and some mild roast. Mild bitterness at the finish. Fairly well-rounded. Enjoyable.

Bottle, courtesy of bu11zeye. Pours a clear brown color with burgundy highlights and a medium, beige color. Aroma of caramel and chocolate with mild alcohol. The flavor has a rich presence of malt with nuts, caramel and chocolate. Itís sweet but just enough. The body is medium with a liquorous texture and gentle carbonation. A pleasant beer to sip on a cold october evening.

Tap at a bar in the Ft Worth Stockyards district (same one that served Buffalo Butt)-pours deep brown almost black with a hightly pronounced kacki head. nose of big roast, sugary chocllate, anise with some pronounced sweetness detected on the nose. flavors show the sweetness, but it is well rounded out by the awesoem aspects spice, dark malt, clean yeast quality, and heavy dark chocllate. lots of husky bitterness here not due from hops. a very tasty beer for sure!
