heemer77 (3782), Savannah, Missouri, USA May 5, 2008 On tap at the brewpub. The arom is pale yellow with a white head. The aroma was bready with some biscutis and bell pepper. The taste has some spicy beller peppers with some meaty bologna. It’s ok. JPDIPSO (4286), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Apr 2, 2008 Light golden color with a smaller, but stable popcorn colored head. Light malt and toasted grain scents. Only a hint of herbal hops. Needs a touch more hops for this style to differentiate between this and a regular pale lager. Decent lace. Some grains, light honey, bit of grass and dough in the flavors. Some mild perfume flavors wonder in as well. Reminds me of a pre- pro lager more than anything else. Ughsmash (3079), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Dec 17, 2007 Thanks to Bob for bringing the bottle! This bottle was a foamer!.. clear brighter golden with a creamy white head. The aroma found soft dusty lemon and detergenty notes.. somehow pleasant with a bit of dusty bread emerging with warmth. The flavor found sweet bready notes and odd fruit-like (but not really fruity) notes.. sweet overall with nothing very good going for it.. grainy, fruity sweetness at the back. Lighter-bodied with carbonation on the high side.. not a very memorable feel on the palate. Silphium (2028), Lansing, Michigan, USA Aug 13, 2007 On tap at the brewery. Clearish straw body, spritzy carbonation, medium tight off-white head. Grassy, floral hops nose. Nice, easy-going palate pairing honey and nectary malts with floral, grassy hops. Light, sweet, and well-balanced. Above-average. Skyview (2901), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Jul 2, 2007 Another one of Menominee-Marinette brewery brands of the past revived by Rail House. On tap and in bottles at the brewpub, this beer pours a light golden amber brew with a thick white head that leaves an excellent lacing. Aroma is lighter than Silver Cream but still has light roasted malt, flowery hops and a touch of vanilla. Taste is lightly carbonated with a sweet doughy taste. Finish is semi-sweet and creamy with a good bitter balance. Though this is not the original recipe of the historical Brewers’ Best, it is still very refreshing! For you beer historians, this brand is the legendary Brewers’ Best Pilsener beer that was at various times brewed by 13 different breweries between 1943 and 1967. Walter Brewing Company of Trinidad, Colorado started this beer in 1943 and shared a unique yeast strain that gave this a smooth, light bready and crisp flavor. Though the yeast strain has been long gone since 1950, (Two Rivers Beverage Co. in Two Rivers, Wisconsin had the last yeast batch), kudos to Rail House for reviving this historical brand of the very distant past.
